Denise, I'm sure the asthma being better is a direct result of the GERD calming down as mine gets so bad when my stomach is bad. Yes you would think my boss would think like that but she's not like that. If this really works I will want the other one done too. I am already starting to dred having the surgery because of the pain. One of the other doctors nurses told me that his patients seem to be in a lot more pain than any of the other doctors patients in the recovery room. I wish she wouldn't have told me that. I had asked her if she knew my doctor or had worked with him and she said no but when I worked down in surgery....................... I did not need to hear that.

I did a really stupid thing tonight that I am probably going to pay for in the long run. My daughter offered me a beer so I drank about half like I do once in a great while and after drinking half and giving it to my husband I decided to have another since my stomach didn't hurt. I ended up haveing 5 & 1/2 and I was pretty tipsy there for a while. I haven't done that since my 20's. My husband kept telling me to stop and my daughter would tell him oh leave her alone she's just chilling out. Dinner was really good. We had salmon on the grill with garlic powder on it and we used hickory chips. I forgot the lemon and the gas station didn't have any so we had to forgo that but it was still really good. We sat around the fire for hours visiting. Too bad I didn't have my guitar with me. My allergies are so bad tonight. I think I will try to stay in most of today so maybe we can go to the outdoor tonight. I sure hope both our allergies calm down soon. I wonder if Bill is off camping yet. I hope he's got his tummy under control again. talk to you later. Barb

My laundry list of diseases include IBS-D, Ulcetive Colitis, GERD, Asthma, Alergies, CAD stent to LAD 1/4/05, Fibromyalgia, TMJ and a deteriorating disk in lower back and cysts on ovaries and uterus. Also chronic pain from a moped accident 11/9/07 which left me with back, hand, knee and foot problems.  

Meds, Nexium, gaviscon, Advair 500/50, Proventil inhaler, Plavix, Nitroquick, Benadryl, Natural progesterone cream, fish oil, calcium, lecithin, biotin, flax oil, magnesium, CoQ 10, vitamin C, vitamin D, multivitamin.

Barb,

Apple River Summer Splash is this weekend too in Somerset Wisconsin  cool . Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Travis Trit etc.  That is only one hour from us and is usually a very popular event for people all around. 

So you had a beer or 2 or 3 or ???  smhair I am glad to hear you let your hair down a bit and relaxed and had some good laughs I am sure.  As long as your doing okay today that is good.

Sorry your allergies are kicking in, dang.  Yes do stay in doors for as long as you can today.  Our weather on the western side of Wisconsin is hot and humid.  We are only 5 miles from the the Wisconsin border.

I hope Bill is having a comforatable and pleasant weekend. Go Bill !

I am glad to read you allergies are better and your asthma is under control.  Now are you on summer vacation?  I cannot believe that the 4th of July is just a mere two weeks from today.

Hi Barb,
Hey...Don't worry about the beer! I'm with your daughter. My wrap/stomach act up every so often. I get some discomfort at night and need to take a little swallow of maalox, which takes care of it. Also, my stomach dumps occasionally...I get growling/grumbling and diarrhea.

I've decided, though, that I'm going to go ahead and eat and drink what I want. The symptoms are not that bad, and the diarrhea always takes care of itself in a day of a few days. I'm going to enjoy what I want to eat and drink. Now if the symptoms were more severe and bothersome, I'd have a different attitude, but I'm sick of second guessing my stomach/wrap. The main thing is to chew things up completely. I think that's what causes most of my problem--I'm a bit frisky with my chewing and swallowing.

I can't wait 'till the pollen slows down. It should be very soon. We're going on vacation on Friday with our two sons. It'll be fun to have them with us. My son's wife has to work, and they both travel with family/separately at times, so she's fine with it. it'll be nice to just be a family again, with nobody else. We go to an island off Cape Cod, Mass.--Martha's Vineyard. We've been going there for many years, and the kids love it. (My son's wife would love to be there, but she has to work, and her sister is getting married the following Friday, so she's going to help out with those plans.)

This weekend I have to get my report cards done (haven't started), finish up a DVD slide show I'm making for my student's families, and go to a shower for my daughter in law's sister. Next week I'll be packing up my classroom. I usually go in for a few weeks after school's out and take my time. They're doing some renovations, so we have to be done this week. I'll probably be working late a lot. Plus, I have to pack for our vacation. Wish me luck!

I think you're right about getting your other hand done. I have foot problems, and had foot surgery two years in a row. I'm glad it got it done one after the other. It didn't solve all of my foot problems, but it definitely helped.

Denise, that's awesome that your wrap is working that well for you. I've been having some tummy troubles again lately because I have been eating chocolate a lot lately. I can eat it occasionaly with out problems but not on a regular basis. I can not believe that my stomach wasn't hurting from all that beer. The last time I had beer was half of one on Mothers day at the bar where my daughter works and my stomach started to hurt after that so this was very unusual. I have a headache today and my tummy doesn't feel the greatest so will take it easy today. The cotton wood trees are really bad by us so I don't know if that is a factor in my allergies. Now we have my daughters dog back here again with our rat terrier and my little chihuahua and the dog he is supposed to mate with are at my daughters house since it is neutral ground. They seem to be getting along better there. My daughter is very smart when it comes to dogs since she is a certified dog trainer. I'm very proud of her. I hope you get all that school stuff done soon. You sound like you go above and beyond as a teacher. The kids and parents are very lucky to have you. Have a great time with your family. That sounds like a lot of fun. Remember to relax and chew chew chew. Lol.

Kitt, sounds like quite a festival. Country USA is a 5 day all country festival. They have all sorts of booths there with vendors. I've bought some really neat things there. Of course they have all sorts of food vendors too. We bring all our own food though and eat out by the car.  I can't eat much of it any way and it is so unhealthy for you. I can just feel my arteries choking thinking about all the greasy junk. We go mainly for the music any way. We saw Kenny Chesney last year and got drenched. We only go to see half his show. He was awesome though. We have seen all the other singers you mentioned before in past years at Country USA. It's very humid today here too. Yesterday I cracked and turned on the air. I can finaly take my summer clothes out as it feels like summer at last. I don't know what we will do today other than the drive in tonight. I had some things I wanted to do but just don't feel like it. We just go the news that my friend I've had since I was 16 passed away from a heart attack in his sleep up in Canada. My hubby and I both had a good cry and I'm sure it's not our last. He had a lot of health problems. This was his 3rd heart attack and he had dieabtes. We did a lot of stuff with him and his partner over the years. I wish we were up there in Canada to help Troy through this. I'm glad that 3 of their friends are there for him. They were going to get married today. It's so sad. He was only 47. Well I think I will go run a few errands and then take a nap so I don't fall asleep at the out door tonight. I think I may have my sister talked into going with her little granddaughter. We both want to see night at the museum. I could use a good laugh about now.

Barb,

I am so sorry to hear of your friend's death.  How very sad.  You have my sympathy at the loss of your friend and prayers for his family.

I do hope you are able to enjoy the Drive In tonight.  We are going to watch a couple of DVDs.  Hubby took hi cycle out for a ride this afternoon.

Thanks Kitt & Denise, I appreciate it. It has been a really hard day for me. I have never lost a friend before. We were friends for 31 years. We had a lot in common. I'll never have a friend that understands me and what I go through like Rob as we both had all the same health problems. The only one that he had that I didn't was the diabetes. He was a great inspiration to every one around him. I can't believe I'll never talk to him again. It really makes you think about how short life can be when some one the same age as you passes away. I talked to another one of my friends today and she said the funeral home here is making all the arrangements to get his body back here. It should be Monday or Tuesday. Well I am going to try to go enjoy the night at the out door with my hubby of 28 years. You enjoy your movies Kitt and Denise I hope your getting all your work done so you can go on that vacation. Barb

Thanks, Barb. Hope you enjoyed your movie. You're right. Life is too short, and we never know how long we have. A good reason not to waste time stressing over the small stuff!

Tomorrow is a report card marathon for me. Then all week I'll be packing. It'll get done. I may have to go in at night a few times, to get it all done. Then I'll get up on Friday and do the packing. That should work!

Thanks Denise, both movies were really funny. I'm glad they were both comedys. I would reccomend both Night at the Museum 2 and 17 again. The second one got a little sappy and my hubby started to cry thinking about our 2 friends not being together any more. My eyes are pretty dry at this point. I had to stop at the store after to get our stuff for the country music festival. I eat pretty healthy and try to avoid all the expensive junk they serve there. The one thing I do buy is a bag of kettle corn and we snack on it for 2 or 3 days. The first year we ate all sub sandwiches and by the last day the thought of another sandwich made me gag and we ended up buying something hot there to eat. So now I plan meals a head of time and then we cook on the grill and camp stove in the parking lot. Well I better get to bed as it got pretty late with having to stop at the store after wards. Good luck with all those report cards and packing. Barb

Bill must be off camping! I miss him here, but hope he's havning a great time.

Yup...he must be off camping and fishing. That's much better than a hospital room, so I'm glad he's off enjoying himself. Glad you enjoyed your movies. We don't have many drive-in movies around here any more. Too bad...they're fun.

Enjoy your country music festival...When does it start? It's a good idea to bring food. It'll be cheaper and better! I love kettle corn, too. I eat way too much of it, though!

Denise, the festival starts this Wednesday. I am excited about the first night because my daughter and her boyfriend are going with us and Taylor Swift is the head liner for the night. I'll have to buy some Kettle corn to share with them. It is the only time of year I get it. It's a really special treat for us.

Kitt, I have to agree laughter is the best medicine. My whole family has a good sense of humor. I am really tired today. I have so much to do today too. My nephew came to bring my hubby a fathers day card. That was so sweet. He spent a lot of time at our house since 2001 when they moved 9 blocks from us. It helped ease the empty nest syndrome for us. Lol. Well better get to work. Have a great day.

Bill, you go man. I hope your having a great time building up those calluses on your fingers again and enjoying the great out doors.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I must admit, if I can get through the demands of this week, I'll really enjoy relaxing at the beach with my family. I know I'll get through it all, but right now I don't know how! I guess just one day, minute, responsibility at a time!

Barb, How nice of your nephew.  That is a hard time to cope with, the empty nest syndrome.  I know I still miss the children around the house.

Denise, one step in front of the other and just stay in the moment.  Before you know it you will be at the beach.

Hi all -
I did get a couple days and nights of camping in. Me and my daughter along with a couple friends and their kids. We battle the rain and winds a while, but had a great time. We left the tent up to dry out before we take it down and if the rain gets out of here before it gets too late we may head back out tonight yet. Didn't get much fishing in, but it was nice to spend a couple relaxing days with my daughter. She really enjoys just kicking back at camp like her old man. She doesn't get too many breaks with softball , so any chance we get to relax is nice.

Barb, Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I haven't gotten the nerve to try any beers yet, but maybe July 4th weekend I might try it.

Denise, Enjoy your vacation, you need it!

Barb, I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I hope that the memories of the times spent with your friend will help you through this.

Denise, and everyone else who gets to go on vacation...I am officially Jealous! (yes, with a capital J), my vacation will be spent in radiation...you get to come home with a tan and me...I get to glow in the dark! hahaha!!!!!

Bill, Happy Fathers Day! Did you get the hellacious rains? We got 4 inches on Friday; a total of 7 inches from Tuesday through Saturday morning..holy Noah's Ark!! Roads are only now starting to open up.

I hope you all are well and I think you are all so wonderful!!!

i think the earth is going to sink.We have had rain here nonstop.Downpours too at times.Thank god there is a fall breeze.I love rain but this is enuff for a year,My brothers garden is sopped. The eggplant has turned yellow as did the brocoli but the tomatoes are cherry red.I cant wait

Ok, I'm new over here and haven't read through this entire thread, but did want to tell you all that Bill does cheat on you and spend some time with us in the Chronic Pain forum!

I hope I'm not giving away any secrets, Bil! LOL Seriously, he's been a real help to me over there and is one of the reasons I'm here. You can blame him if I become unruly, which I can do from time to time. :-)

Thanks every one for your sympathy. The funeral is going to be so hard for my husband and me  cry   I just talked to my friends partner from the airport. He's very over whelmed. My husband talked to him too and told him we're here for him when ever he needs us.

Bill, I'm glad you got out and had some fun. How's your stomach feeling? Hope it's getting better every day. I'd wait on the beer if I were you util the doc says it's ok.

Kitt, yes it is different with out the kids around. Very quiet. I thought that was very sweet of a 15 year old to take the time to do that.

Denise, I hope the weather cooperates. At this point they are calling for rain the frist 4 days of the festival. I hope they are wrong or that it changes.

Janice, good luck with the radiation. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hi Bill,
So glad you got a chance to go camping...we used to camp a lot, but our equipment is ancient, and we haven't gone in a long time. I'm looking forward to vacation with the kids, but have to get through this week, first. I have to finish the DVD our year in school that I'm giving to my parents. I also have to get my room packed up, which I suspect will require night work to finish it up by Thursday night. I want Friday to get ready for the trip. I haven't started packing. Once I'm in the car and on the way, then I can take a deep breath and RELAX! Hopefully we'll get some beach weather...the waves are so peaceful.

Sorry about your vacation plans...you'll be developing that glow in the dark look! You're funny, ((((Janice))))! I'm sure you're thankful that you've been on top of it, and your percentages are positive and high. Also...you have health insurance, which is something to be very happy about. I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday, and sending prayer and positive thoughts your way.

Hope the weather holds for your fest. Of course, that's what we're watching at our vacation destination. There has been a coastal storm stalled over the east coast, and it has kept the weather from moving. Hopefully we'll get some warm weather while we're on the island. We love to sit (under an umbrella in my case) at the beach and enjoy the ocean waves. I'm sure that your friend's partner appreciates your support and offers of help.

Hi everyone, Happy Monday! It sounds like everyone is so busy, festivals and last weeks of school and camping and rock wall climbing and new carpet! whew!!!! I'm glad that Bea is back, I've missed you! and PA Lady, I'm glad you've joined us too! I think many of us jump from forum to forum; I'm often on the migraine forum and sometimes on the breast cancer forum too, but this is home for me :)

Barb, I will continue to keep you in my thoughts, I am sure your presence will help your friends partner so much. This is no small thing that you are going through and I pray for your heart to be at peace.

Denise, What time does the bus leave for the beach.  You be sure to pace yourself so your not wore out by the time the end of the week gets here girlfriend.

Bea, I am sending you hip boots so you can get out in all that rain water.  Also I am sending you a dozen eggs as your brother plants eggs and I don't think they will produce and cackle berries.  Stay dry sweetie.

Barb,  I am continuing to pray for your friend and for you too as I know the pain of losing people we love and care about is heart wrenching.   You are never far from my thoughts.
