Good Morning All,

I spoke way to soon re the weather, it is pouring rain here and the wedding is scheduled to be outside.  I am feeling so bad for our niece who must be upset right now. It is 8:40 AM and the wedding is scheduled for 3:00 PM. I know they were planning outdoor pictures before the wedding and after.  As the wedding is here at the hotel there are no photo ops to do church pictures as a backdrop.

Would you all pray to the sun gods that they overpower the rain gods.  shocked

What an awesome trip but I do understand the part about taking your FIL.  You are a great lady for taking this trip.  It sounds like you have some really good plans to have some special times along the way. Our duty this weekend is to make sure we get my in-laws to church on Sunday Morning so I will be on my knees for sure tomorrow morning.  smhair They are in there 80's and they never miss church bless their hearts.  Happy Trails to you and stay safe.

Well we traveled the Great River Road yesterday and had a good ride, only 2 hours from where we live so it was a short ride. I took a long walk on the path they have here called the Marsh Trail and I could hear the birds chirping away and the crickets too.  It was very peaceful.  I tried to stay in the moment and remind myself that all is good in my world.  :)

Our son and daughter and their families will be here this afternoon. I love it when we are all together but do miss my oldest son and his family as they are on the west coast and will not be here.

We did sneak over to Culvers last night but I did not eat frozen custard............I chose lemon ice.  Yuck.  redface   The upside, no tummy problems.

I think we found Bill this morning but you never know when he will take off to go to a ballgame or camping but he always returns. I think he likes us.  tongue I do hope you are able to do some mini vacations this summer right in your home city, visit the local tourist attractions................anything to bring you joy.

Well it looks like the heavy rain has let up a bit.

Has any1 herd fro Bianca? I am worried. I hope it truly stops raining there. Today I have sunshine. However,last nite it seemed like a horror nite.The skies turned orange & then black. We had hail & gusty winds!!

Oh boy, do I wish I could stay home too! But , no..I stay here with all of you though! Kitt, don't you worry, that weather will clear up and just in time too!..and no matter, the wedding will be beautiful.

Bea, you're in NY right, we had storms kick up just east of here, but we didn't get hit..they must have gathered strength going over the lakes, between you and Kitt and helping in-laws and such..you either have great in-laws or you're saints (obviously, mine do NOT fall into the first category!)

Kitt, my surgeon is in Goshen, In; we live in south, central Michigan..I followed her there from Michigan State Univ some 10 - 12 years ago or so; it's far enough away from the craziness in Gary.

Bill is probably outside playing ball! as we all should be! They've had some nasty storms in Mass to, so I hope Denise is okay.

PA Lady, I hope you're feeling okay..have you tried the Protonix?, is it helping at all? I hope so!
Teala? haven't seen you for a while same for Barb?

Bea, I haven't seen Bianca either; she may be healing up just fine and doing okay..we'll think good thoughts like that...Now everyone..GET OUTSIDE!!!!

Kitt that sound really nice an relaxing. Hope you have fun at the wedding. I hope the rain let up for the wedding and pictures.

Bea that is so nice of you to do that for your father in law. I hope you still manage to have fun along the way. Can you do the sundance for us in Wisconsin too? It looks like it may rain on our festival today. I want to see Dierks Bentley tonight. Awww I just went out to put the large unbrella up over my open sunroof just in case and it started to sprinkle. Oh well they could use some rain to wet down the dust. It was awful yesterday there was so much I had to clean my car windows off to see this morning when we left. We got home at 2:30am. Brad Paisley played for almost 2 hours. He was great. We have today and tomorrow and then the festival will be done until next year. My tummy is really upset with this off schedule and eating and drinking things that I shouldn't so I don't think I could take more than the 5 days any way. Have fun.

Hey Janice, I've been around. I'm sure Bill will show up soon. He's out there some where on the ball field or camp ground.

Hi to evey one else and hope you are all having fun too. I think I might go back to bed for a nap while we wait to see if the weather clears up. I'll stop by to see how you all are tomorrow. Barb

Hi all -
Yep, I've been coaching again. We started off well and had a bad inning this afternoon and had our first loss of the weekend. We won our first 3 games out scoring the other teams 32 to 8 and blew a 5 run lead in the last inning of thee 4th game and lost 9 to 6. Oh well, we only had one bad inning thru 4 games. Our team is young and have been holding their own against the 14 y/o teams, we are a 13y/o team with two 12 year old girls also. After another 12 plus hour day at the ball park everyone is hot, sunburned, and tired. t least we don't have to get up at 5am tomorrow. We don't play until 9:30am.
It is really easy to get behind what is going on here. Everyone going on vacation have a great trip. Kitt, I hope the weather cleared up for you.
Janice, As always I am thinking of you and still praying.
PaLady, I hope things are going better for you.
Barb, Glad you and your hubby are enjoying the festival together. Sounds like a good one too.

Hey Bill, sounds like your having as much fun as my hubby and I are. It's always neat to do the things you love. tongue   Wow Rodney Atkins and Dierks Bentley were awesome last night. We did get some rain but not until after I got my hubby out and in his scooter and the sun roof closed on the Saturn. I had a heck of a time getting it back in the trunk because I couldn't push both the buttons at the same time to get the handle bars down with my weak hands to put the  scooter back in the trunk. I was so frustrated I was nearly in tears  cry .  My doc told me that with the surgery that the problem with the weakness should clear up too. I sure hope he is right. We are going to go back down to the festival today earlier than we have been so we can do a little shopping and because there is an act we want to see at 3pm. We got my daughter the dog trainer a T shirt that says I work hard to give my dog a better life and it has a dog with bones on it. We missed Diamond Reo yesterday, but I wasn't sure about the rain and I had to call my friend about Robs funeral service. He was pretty upset as they still have not released the body from Canada yet and it may not be here for the service on the 6th. He will be cremated so Troy said they will have the memorial service either way on the 6th. I told him once we get a vehicle that we can camp in that we'll go with him. He loves to camp but didn't because Rob was a hotel kind of guy. I feel sorry for their dogs too. He says the older dog just sits and waits for Rob to come back. My aunts dog did the same thing when she passed away a few years ago. They are such loyal companions. Well I am back to bed for a while before we have to get ready to go back down to the last day of the festival. Have fun at your games today and I hope you win. Barb

Hello All,

The sun did not come out for the wedding and the service was held indoors but it was just beautiful and everyone had a wonderful time.  All of my husband's family was there as well as our own children and granddaughters so I had a wonderful time.  The food was great, Bea you should have been there to taste a bit of all.  I ate a bit of wedding cake for you smilewinkgrin .

So Bill, you been coaching while I was gone.  Sorry to hear you had your first loss but how great your young team is doing.  I know they are having a grand time with you coaching. It is hard to believe that not to long ago you were paying rent on a hosptial bed and Michele was sleeping where ever her head could find a place to rest. Way to go.

I am just very happy that you have a Doctor you trust and have a good relationship with. You know you are going to come through this a winner as I did pray in church for you yesterday, on my knees.  Thank goodness the kneelers are padded. Hugs to you.

Hi every one, I am exhausted. All I could do tonight was lay in my chair and doze in and out of sleep. Gretchin Wilson was awesome last night. I wanted to see her so bad in 2006, but had to miss her and the rest of the festival since the Crestor i took for a week made my stomach so bad that my asthma was at it's all time worse. She was well worth the wait. My tummy is acting up again big time with all this off schedule stuff and eating and drinking the things I shouldn't. I'm hoping the carafate calms it down. Sorry it rained on the wedding kitt, but glad it turned out any way. It's always fun to go to family weddings. It's one of my favorite things. We have a huge family on my mom's side. Well I am off to bed as I have an early before work mamogram and then after work it is off to the dentist. Yuck not my idea of a fun way to begin or end the day. Lol. Barb

So sorry to hear you stomach is acting up.  Do try to stay in the moment today and just take it one step at a time.  You have a very full day.

Hi Kitt, I almost fell asleep at my desk this am I was so tired. All went well with my test and the dentist adjusted my mouth guard again. He said he didn't want me to not wear it because of it being uncomfortable. Heck I'd take the bloody lip and cheek over the pain i had in my teeth before the mouth guard. Theres no way I'll be going with out it. My boss's boss came over this morning to tell me I couldn't take my vacation to go see my grandchildren because my boss has her vacation and then a conference she just has to be at. She said she feels bad because this is only the second time in 25 years she has had to deny some one vacation. I started to cry and spilled my guts about every thing that has been going on at work. I explained how I had not demanded that i have a certain date off for surgery like my boss had told her and how all my appointments had already been made months ago and you can't just change them the week before. She was very understanding and said I wasn't in any kind of trouble if that's what I was worried about and she said if I need to talk she is there. So I feel a whole lot better because she did not have all the facts. I asked if my boss had told her about the one appointment I was able to and did change and she said no so I am glad i brought it up. My boss isn't going to like it but I'm going to find out if my doc can do my surgery on the right hand December 23rd and then I'll take a few weeks off because my grand kids will probably come up during that time too. She always takes all days around the holidays off and I have never said any thing about it so now it's my turn.  I'm going to take your advice and go relax out by the camp fire. It's a nice night for it since it feels like fall out.

Denice, so glad you are having fun on vacation. Don't feel bad I wouldn't know how to type or text on one of those. My phone is so old it doesn't even have a camera. Our kids always make fun of them but hey they still work and they don't cut out in the mountains or in stores like my kids fancey phones do. Hope you keep having fun you deserve it. Barb

Dear Barb,

I am so sorry your boss is causing you so much anxiety but glad to hear you had a chance to tell your side of what is going on in your life.

I remember the year I started my nursing career in the hospital and the December schedule came out.  I was scheduled to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.  When my boss showed me the schedule I cried as I would not have any time with my young children or be with my family.  I worked straight 3-11PM shift back then.

My boss took pity on me and asked which one of those shifts I would most like to be off and it was Christmas Eve as we all go to my MIL that day for the whole day and evening and then  to church so she gave that to me.

Eventually I had to accept that I would be working on Christmas Holidays but as my children grew up I was able to tolerate it better.  We also switched to evey other year you would have all of Christmas Off.  Then I went into management and did not have to work weekends or holidays.  :)

I shed a lot of tears on those missed Christmas Holidays but raising 4 children I needed my job.

I think your wise to book out your surgery now as that gives your boss all the time she needs to make her own arrangements and as your vacation was turned down it would not look good for your boss to make an issue over your surgery.

Please don't let this upset you and kick up a GERD episode. 

We are all here for you too my friend.

Sorry I haven't been around in a few days. I managed to get dehydrated again and spent the last couple days on the couch. Too much heat and sun over the weekend. I always worry about the girls, but not myself. Michelle was kinda pissed. We have 2 days of practice then it's off to the state tournament Friday morning.

Thanks Kitt for the encouragement. I think it's too late for the Gerd. It's already acting up. I'm going to try to take it easy this weekend and catch up on my sleep and watch what I eat and get all my carafate doses in to heal up my stomach. The closer it gets to my friends funeral next Monday the more often I think about him and cry. He was like a brother to me(actually more like a sister since he was a cook, hairdresser, into clothes and design). We were always talking about that stuff as my hubby would talk to his partner Troy about cars and other guy things. We are still going to do stuff with Troy but it won't be the same with out Rob. Oh well I am off to pick up my little buddy Gizmo and drop off Kayu and Abby at my daughters house. Kayu kept waking me up early this morning so I am looking forward to my little dog that sleeps by us until we get up. We are going to take his little girlfriend home with us too until her owners come up to pick her up next week. The 2 of them got along much better at my daughters house so hopefully that will hold true when they come back here. Gizmo makes me laugh all the time and I really need that right now. It's the best medicine for any situation.  

Bill, you have to take care of yourself. I guess I shouldn't talk as I do the same sort of stuff and my hubby gets pissed at me. Lol. But really do take care of yourself. We all worry about you. Barb

I hope you enjoyed the campfire. It has been really nice here the last 3 days and I have felt so crappy I haven't been off the couch except to go to the bathroom. I should have planned a camping trip this week. When we went it was in the 90's and thunder storming. Now it has been it the 60's for 3 days and beautiful. That's how it usually goes though.
I backed way down on the meds last weekend and my stomach still hurts quite a lot. He said it would for a couple more months or so, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Feels like something popped loose inside 2 of the incision areas. The middle and left one are very sore. I haven't had any real pain from them until the last few days, weird. I actually had to take 2 of the Oxycodone I had left tonight because ibuprophen wasn't helping. Michelle wants me to call my doctor because I go back to work next week and she doesn't think I am ready yet.
Denise I hope you are enjoying your well deserved vacation. Using those little computers is a pain. I was so glad to get the laptop at the hospital.

PS. I had forgot to mention that I asked what type of wrap I had. Whether he used a bougie or not and he said he did a loose wrap without anything to size it.

I did enjoy the camp fire with our fountain going in the back ground. Very relaxing. It is supposed to reach the 70's here tomorrow and go up from there. I'm glad you are resting. It sounds like you over did it. I would listen to Michelle and call your doctor tomorrow because it does sound like you need to be off maybe a while longer. I can't believe your still in so much pain. How awful. I had my boss's boss ask yesterday if I thought the 5 days was enough for my hand surgery because she knew people that were off for quite a while. I told her my doc said it was ok. I should have added and besides my boss would have a fit. Which would have been the truth. Oh well I got it off my chest any way. I got my little dog back. He was so excited to see me. I can't wait to curl up with him and the other little dog and go to sleep. They are both so good. No loud whinnig at 5am. Lol.

I didn't know they used any thing to size the wraps. All I know is mine is a full wrap and has stayed in place all these years. Well have to get ready for bed. Talk to you later. Keep resting and drink plenty of fluids. Don't forget to call your doc. Barb

Bill, you really need to drink more when you are out there in the heat !!

I work outside on my job alot in the summer and I know how fast I can get that way....

I wish I could work outside sometimes! I'm on the 8th floor of an 8 story building; the windows don't open, but I do have a big window in my office (which sometimes I wish I could break open and throw the computer from or jump from...not sure which!!). What kind of work do you do?

Bill, under the circumstances, I would call the Dr. too; I hurt something shortly after my surgery last year, it felt like I had ripped something open and the pain was just awful, awful...they never checked what it was, but I was on serious meds (that's when we found out I was allergic to morphine..they said it was an "impressive" reaction!). Anyway, this pain stayed with me on and off for about two months after that.

I still think I ripped something, I don't know, but I do have a sense of what you're feeling. However, I haven't gone through anything as serious as you have and calling the Dr. is not unreasonable at all!

I do understand, though, how you would rather stay as far away from them as possible...but you know what? I swear, they just come in the middle of the nght and sprinkle Dr. dust on you so that you have to go back to see them!!!! (some day I'm going to find that darn little Dr. fairy and dust him!!!

"Michelle wants me to call my doctor".  Well she is a smart lady so please do make that call. You have had a sudden change in how you have been feeling.  You need to check in with your Doctor but I know you would rather not.  It is scary but bit the bullet my friend and just do follow up and find out all is OK.  :-)

The Doctor called and told me to let you know you are to rest, rest, rest this weekend.  I know how sad you are feeling and that may be causing some of your problems too.  Remember our minds and bodies go together dear friend. My prayers are with you.

I think I have figured out the pain issues. I was taking some pretty strong pain meds and stopped all at once. I am thinking it has something to do with that. He did say that my stomach would still hurt for a couple months with all that happened. I am going to contact him and see what he thinks though.
Barb, I think Bea's and Denise's surgeons used a bougie to size their wraps. Mine just does it by feel and does a loose wrap. It is working great so far.

Janice- I thought something ripped too at first. I was bragging how the incision just below my left ribs didn't hurt this time around. Then it decided to remind me it was there. I wonder if the feeling was from the sutures finally letting go. I think you are right on about the Dr. dust. That was funny also!

Kitt, I hope you have good weather for the weekend and can enjoy it.

Anne, I know better than to let myself get dehydrated. I was an outside worker also until 5 years ago. Sometimes I worry about the girls so much I forget about myself. I will make sure this weekend I drink plenty of water. Enjoy your weekend also.

Denise, I hope all is going as planned on your vacation.

Kitt, that sounds like really good advice. I started on it tonight at the outdoor during the second movie. Lol. My hubby said I was snoring away. We took Glory and Gizmo with us and they were really good. We were hoping they would be inspired to work on making some puppies but no such luck shakehead .  Lol. I got really good news at the heart doctor today. My cholesterol and all the numbers are really good. The best he has seen since he put my stent in. tongue He told me he still wished I could take the statins and I then explained to him the last time I took one for a week I was sick for six months with my stomach and asthma.  sad I mentioned how I had stopped taking the fish oil because i thought it might be a cause of stomach upset and he told me that he wished he could take it himself as he has heart disease, but he can't because of his stomach. I also asked him about the melatonin I had started taking about 6 months ago and he said it was ok but not to take it every night or you will become immune to it which I didn't know. He said he takes it himself once in a while to sleep. He said I can take it but to take a few days off so what I will do is not take it on the weekends. I sleep better on the weekends because when I stay up later I am able to sleep better and longer. I slept really good last night smurf as my carafate worked well and the increase in the amitriptyline by 5mg is working to dry my mouth back out so I'm not choking on my saliva at night. I sent my boss's boss a email today thanking her for being so understanding and explained to her I don't usually randomly cry like that, but that i am concerned with my unborn grandsons enlarged kidney which the doctors are keeping an eye on and then my friend passing away and the van engine going. She said any time I need to talk she is there. I know from experience that getting upset really eats at my stomach so I'm glad I got it off my chest. I also put in all my vacation for the rest of the year now so there better not be any more disputes about that. My grandson's are coming at Christmas time. Too bad my granddaughter will be with her mother at that time. I am looking forward to the weekend with family and relaxing. There are some events around town we want to attend, or I may just lay in my chair outside. Doctor's orders you know. Lol.

Janice, I am all for dusting the fairy doctor. yeah You crack me up.

Bill I hope you win some games this weekend, but make sure you take care of yourself. I don't know what my doctor did to size my wrap. All I know is it is a bit tight, but if they redo it I was told I could have more acid coming up again and I don't want that.

Oakley, it's all in the way you look at things and what else can we do but make the best of it and keep right on going.

I am off to take my carafate and hit the sheets for the night or I should say morning I guess. I'm sleeping in for sure with out the 90 pound whinning dog to wake me up. turn Hope every one has a great weekend. Every day you wake up is a great day. Barb

I am thrilled to hear your labs results were so much improved.  It does appear you are doing all the right things,  I am proud of you my friend. 

 

Remember you have promised to be good to yourself this weekend and let go of the stress, just plop down in the old lounge chair and let people cater to you.

 

Our new puppy, 5 months old now, and about 60 pounds, wants to get on my lap. My hubby will take him out in the evening for potty break and then encourage him to bound down the steps into the family room and jump up into my lap.  I have black and blue marks from the brute.  I told hubby I will be letting everyone know my hubby is abusing me.  LOL.

 

I am keeping your friend and all his family as well as you in my prayers as I do understand the loss you are feeling right now.

I hope you are feeling better and the pain has let up.  Please do let us know what your Physician has to say.

It does take time to heal and you were on some strong pain meds but I hate to hear of you being in pain so do take care of you.

Oh my goodness Kitt, you have to tell your hubby that dog is not a lap dog size any more! My arms are all bruised up from last week when I had to haul those ramps in and out and the scooter. They hauled our van away yesterday to have the engine rebuilt. We decided it is cheaper to fix it than have a car payment. We are going to see if we can get a pesonal loan instead of putting the $2000 on a credit card to pay for it. I slept in until 10am and then sat in my lazy boy after eating breakfast and watched a few old shows i enjoy. I am going to have to run back up to work today though because I have to try one more time to get a hold of the bus company to cancel for the trip we had planned last week. Yuck! I'm supposed to be off today since the center is closed but I am thinking of maybe riding my bike up there it's so nice out. I'm hoping to get to the gym to splash around in the pool and lounge in the hot tub. We'll see what the day brings. It sure is beautiful out. I really love summer. Well better go get dressed and ready to do something. Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement. I am so thrilled about my numbers for cholesterol. It just encourages me to keep losing the weight and eating right. Now I just have to get back into the regular exercise which I plan on doing this weekend. I hope you have fun with your friend at lunch. My best friend lives in Iowa where I lived for 10 years so I haven't seen her in 3 years but she just got a computer so we can keep in better touch. She helped me through a lot of health problems when I was younger. I think I'll call her this weekend. Have a great day. Barb
