I read about you bedine (?) reaction  . I had laser eye surgery last year and they wiped bedine on my eyelids and I had itchy burning eyes for days after. Everytime I dropped my medication in my eyes for the surgery I felt as if my eyes were on fire  . It turned out I had a shellfish allergy and bedine comes from shellfish  . Do you have a shellfish allergy?

I sure can relate to the itching stuff. I know I couldn't stand it. I wanted to just climb out of my skin. Even an isolated itching area is horrible. I did add that I am allergic to morphine to my records now. At least to the 2 surgeons I see anyhow. I should call my PCP and tell them I suppose. I just have to remember it if I see any new doctors. I am not sure I cold forget, but I did forget it after the year and a half between surgeries. This last time was way worse and I suspect that was from being on it so long.
Anyhow, glad the lung doctor visit went well. Sorry there aren't any pups in the immediate future. My niece's golden retriever is due the first week of August. They don't know what they are in for!

Hi Bill, I don't know how any one could forget itching like this. I am still taking the benedryl for the itching and it helps with my plugged ear. I had to go to the walk in clinic this morning because my vein on my leg was very painful, red and hot. The doc thinks it is just inflamed not a blood clot. He offered to send me for a ultrasound but said it would be kind of over kill at this point. I told him no that's ok if he wasn't worried about it I wasn't. The hospital for an ultra sound is the last place I want to be at this point. I hated even going in today, but knew it should be looked at. I had the nurse put betadine down as an allergy on my chart. I had the doc look at me ear since I was there already and he thinks it's just a little fluid in the eustacian tube. Just keep taking benedryl and my nose spray. It's the same ear I had the bug stuck in 3 weeks ago and they rinsed it out real good. How did the games go this weekend? Hope you won some.

Hi Denise, wow you are a busy lady. Sounds like things are going along nicely though. Just make sure you keep that mask on. Dust can be a terrible trigger for asthma. I know it bothers mine big time. I want to do some cleaning and tossing this fall and winter. Will have to do it before my next hand surgery in December. Working with one and is really a pain in the butt. Barb

 

Bill, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow morning and hoping that your girls do well. Well I hope the itching doesn't wake me tonight. I cleaned my arm again and put more cortizone cream on it. I'm amazed how well the benedryl works at first. I wish it lasted the whole 6 hours until the next dose. Well I'm off to bed as I go back to work tomorrow morning. Hi Denise, I did have and itch free restful night. It was wonderful. I still found it hard to drag myself out of bed when the alarm went off and 6:59am. I felt like I had a hang over. I think from my pain med along with the benedryl, muscle relaxor and other stuff I take. I'm not used to taking that. My husband comes to me when he has something wrong and I scare him into going. Lol. I thought about having my doc look at my foot too, but I can live with it a while longer like it is. The feet are another specialty of his besides the hands. My foot is not near as bad as my hands plus I don't know about having surgery on my foot since I have had phlebi*** in my legs, celulitis in my feet and a skin ulcer in my other foot. I didn't even think I'd have any problems after hand surgery with my legs. I had some with my left leg after the last surgery though. Oh well just my luck.

Kitt, my day went pretty good. No itching at all. Yahoo! I think the cleaning of my hand last night must have gotten the last bit off the dreaded orange stuff off. My hand hurts a little tonight but my leg gave me most of the trouble today. I put a heat patch on the veins that are inflamed and that seemed to help.  I am going to call my regular doc tomorrow and see if I can get a prescription for some stockings to wear until this is under control. It's too hard to try to put my nylons on with one hand and they are just light support. I think it would be easier to put on a thigh high stocking.

Hi PAlady, I am doing pretty good and will be much better once I get my leg pain to go away too. It's never just one thing with me it seems. Barb

Hi Kitt, Yahoo I had another itch free day. My hand and leg hurt though. I'll take the pain over itching any day though. I was so tired tonight that I came home from work and took a 2 hour nap along with the pain pill. My hand feels better any way. The nurse at my doctors office said that there would be no way for me to get support stockings on with my hand like this so I will try my light support panty hose. She also said to put my foot up when sitting so will bring a little stool I have to stick under my desk. What a pain this all is. I asked about walking the dogs. She asked me doesn't it hurt when you walk and I told her I am the exception to the rule in most cases and it actually hurts when I first get up to walk around and gets better from there. She agreed that was weird. I told her I am a pain for my doctors to deal with and poor Paul inherited me and my problems from the last Nurse practitioner when she retired last year. If any one can handle my problems he sure can though. He's smarter than any doctor I've ever had. Oh well will get through it one day at a time and one problem at a time. I just keep telling myself that at least my heart and lungs are great. Well I am off to walk my pups. Have a great night.  Barb

You're right. There is no way you'll be able to manage pulling up compression stockings. I've worn them since December 2006, and, while they're great for venous insufficiency, and make your legs feel much better, they're a pain to get on and off, look bad, and are HOT. Other than that, they're great!

I wear them to try to avoid some of the post thrombotic syndrome problems that I'd probably get without them. So far so good! I only take them off to shower and sleep...and an occasional special occasion when I have to wear regular stockings, because the others are so thick and ugly! In the summer, when I'm around home, I only wear the one, but when I go out, I think it still looks better to have matching stockings! When I'm wearing jeans, or long pants, I can get away with one, but that's about it.

My stomach is really bad at the moment. I don't exactly know what got it going...I guess it was the diflucan that I took, and then other irritants (other meds, foods, beverages, etc.). Anyway, it feels like %&^#@@! On the bright side, though, my lungs are great (knock on wood). I don't know how...I'm in all kinds of dust, working to get our house ready to show. Yikes! What a lot of work. It's pretty much nonstop. They're going to put in new carpet in the downstairs living room tomorrow...and a new floor in our downstairs kitchen. (We have a great in-law apartment) The painter is FINALLY done. We added something at the last minute, and I think he was really pooped by the time he left.

My son did a great job on the landscaping in front. Now he has to work on a retaining wall on one side of the house, and the landscaping in the back. It's a ton of work for him, but he's really making it look nice.

I had a bone density and mammogram today. I have osteopenia in my spine--I'm not surprised with all the steroids I've been on, especially lately. I got a little worse since the last one. She said I can improve it, with calcium citrate, vitamin D, and weight bearing exercise. The woman who gave me the bone density test has a husband who had the Nissen Fundo 10 years ago and is totally happy with it. He had horrible GERD, and finally bit the bullet and went for the surgery. There is an example of someone who is going on his merry way after surgery, without getting online to tell everyone he's doing great.

Well, gotta go. We haven't eaten dinner yet, believe it or not. There's just so much to do!

Hi Bea,
The anti nausea meds I have on hand are Compazine (in suppository form) and Zofan (a tiny pill that dissolves under your tongue--this one is more expensive--about $10 per tablet. If you have insurance it's a great option. I just got a script for 10, since I'm hoping not to use it often and it gives the insurance company a break...they might balk at a complete script.)

Good luck with your nausea! My stomach has been bothering me...I need to baby it a while. I have been pretty much eating/drinking whatever I wanted, and now I'm paying. It is just my reactive stomach acting up...it affects my wrap only in that it is part of my silly stomach!

Hope you're doing well otherwise. I'm not sure about the bad taste in your mouth. Are you taking a medication that could be causing it? That's a side effect for some.

Well, back to work on the house. We're making progress. We've got carpeting being installed today. It'll be nice when the biggest stuff is done! We're going to have the cleanest house in town!
