My heart doc confirmed that GERD was causing palpitations--no real evidence of heart disease. Several things from Whole Foods help--I use culturelle acidophilus in AM, slippery elm lozenges, acid-ease with meals, also a product called Digest. All of these help somewhat, plus drinking a lot of water on onset. I have palpitations when lying down and after I eat for a while, but they eventually go away. I have found relaxed breathing techniques a la Dr Andrew Weil (2 CDs) to be very helpful in calming that whole area of midsection, palpitations, etc. I also have costochondritis which is a constant rib cage inflammation which exacerbates the heart also
I have had a little biofeedback relaxation therapy, very helpful, and am thinking about investigating hypnotherapy. Naturopathy, homeopathy, haven't been any help--you can get a lot of good recommendations in the prescription for natural cures and prescription for natural healing books sold by walgreen's and other stores. You might try a half day fast on veg juice and apple sauce--I did it a week ago and felt much better the next day. I am planning to do it again this week.
