endoscopy

I just had an endoscopy today, and although I didn't talk to the doctor afterward he wrote on my discharge report that I have mild esophagitis and polyps.  I guess he will call me early next week with biopsy results on the polyps.  I have an appointment with him mid-week to discuss what he found.  I hope he recommends some other medication to deal with the heartburn (omneprazole 2x day isn't working), and I can forget about GERD for awhile.  Any thoughts on this early diagnosis would be appreciated.  Maybe I just have to live with this level of heartburn?

It's a great that you've gotten your endoscopy over with. Polyps are fairly common, I think. (On the lining of the stomach, too.) Mild inflammation of the esophagus would be consistent with GERD. Hopefully your doctor will try a different PPI, if the omneprazole isn't working for you. It's too bad you have to wait for your consultation, but your doctor will have more information at that time, so it's probably good.

Don't worry. Mild inflammation isn't Barrett's, which is what everyone is worried about.
