griff, no need to quit the pill until after the surgery. I took mine up until the day of. After the surgery my surgeon said I didn't need it anymore and he was right. No reflux since then.
Drink a coke the day before for good measure.... Then take something for the pain. lol

Remember the key after surgery is nothing more than a cup at a time for a week or so. Really makes a difference with the gas pains that build up if you eat too much.

Happy days are here again, come Spet. 28th.

I only had them once and that is when I ate a cup of food at one time.   I went for a walk and it went away.  I just know that so many people complain of pain in shoulder and back.

Mine was in the back, but after that one time I just made sure that I didn't eat more than 1/2 - 3/4 cup at a time.  After my check up after surgery (couple of weeks) then the dr put me on solid foods and I just made sure I didn't eat too much until my stomach got use to it.  After a month, most back to order and I even tried a diet coke....  yea!!!

i feel ya they keep changing my pro op date and threatening my surgery date to change.. and i keep goin no!!! my last 7 months have been hell (as i've gotten 3000 times worse due to my gerd)...
but we made it this long we'll do it together joy:D

Since I set my date my symtoms just seem to get worse everyday. It's probably my imagination and it's the same I'm just not in denial anymore.

It seems my symptoms got worse before the surgery or else I was just more aware of them. I was trying to save up my sick time and was working extra hours to build up comp time so I probably put myself under more stress which also increased the symptoms. I had to turn down work the week before my surgery because I was starting to get sick and was afraid if I pushed to hard and made myself ill the surgery would have to be postponed. I know I was there were times I went to work and told myself you should have called in but I wanted to make sure I had enough time saved up for the recovery

joy: ill have abut 3 weeks, but ill have to be back at school at 2 weeks... i was considering taking an additional week of vacatio but i guess it depends...
dont worry im sure in the end he'll find the rite soultion, no matter what it takes!
well when i started getting all these bad symptoms i had a huge hh that caused me to choke from my stomach going up my body... now after the second barium test and the endscope a while ago they said it was ity bity and wouldnt require any additional fixings with surgery so its bizarre... yours? mine was originally 5 i think

Griff--did you go back to taking the PPI's? Not only will they make you more comfortable, but you don't want your esophagus to get irritated just before you surgery.

Joy and Griff I am so sorry that you are suffering. Maybe it is just that you are anxious. Try to relax and take your meds.
If you are having lapro and don't have to lift things at work and the surgery goes well you should be able to be back to work by then. But let your body tell you. The only problems is that for about 2 weeks you will be on full liquid. Get a blender and look up the list for full liquids.

No tomato by products and very little milk (it seems to make things worse). But you will know if something bothers you. Also, get Gas-X and have it ready. And not for burping either.... that was my only complaint, gas.

Hang in there you two, we are thinking of you every day.
