Hi, I'm new to the forum. Nice place you guys got here! now I got a question or two maybe. Well, I am 24 years old, and have been taking nexium for almost 3 years for GERD. Now, nexium sure does it's job for me, but ever since I started taking it (now that I think back), I have been getting more and more consistent days of having diarrhea and abdominal pain after eating. Naturally, my doctor said it's IBS and brushed it off, But I'm really starting to think it's caused from the nexium. Also I get quite dizzy sometimes with vertigo. So I wanna go off it. I cut a 40 MG pill in half today (forgot to mention I was on 40 MG/day, sry...) And am planning on cutting it off to experiment. I had forgot to go to the doc once for a refill and I ended up spending 3 days without nexium, the first day was bad as I felt kinda off in my head, and had quite a bit of heartburn and acid coming up into my mouth. The second day wasn't too bad, just in a bad mood and acid reflux again except not as bad. 3rd day I felt nearly normal. So, withdrawals weren't terribly bad compared to anti depressants I used to take. Now my question, how many days should I take the 40 mg pill cut in half? I'm thinking 3 or 4 days, then cut a half pill into a 1/4 pill and repeat the process till there's none. Anyways, anyone care to throw in their opinion? Any advice? I think this stomach problem may be a sign that I don't need the 40 MG/day dose. Seeing as the 3rd day of not having it I felt the same as when I have been taking it.
