New problem since surgery

Ok Guys...now all day yesterday and early this morning I have been having frequent urination problems. Is this somehow connected to this surgery too???

Whats next.

Hi Surfergirl,

The only possible connection could be a decrease in your water intake, so you've gotten yourself into a bladder infection/irritation. I used to have many bladder infections when I was younger, so I feel for you. Running to the bathroom isn't fun. I always tried to treat it myself with cranberry juice and lots of water, but personally, never had any luck with that route. If I continues, you'll need to call your doc, and probably require an antibiotic.

I may be off base, but that would be my guess.

Relax...I'm pretty confident that it's most likely a side effect of the surgery.

or maybe your drinkin to many fluids ? Just a thought?

Ask for some Utronia it helps me when I have bladder troubles. Unfortunately it turns your pee bluish green (creepy).

Actually I couldn't stand it any longer so I went to my doc and found out it was a urinary tract infection. So I got some meds and hopefully will be feeling better tomorrow.

HI S=girl,

Did you have a catheter with your surgery?  Sometimes those irritate.  Glad to hear you are getting it taken care of.  Urinary tract infections are soooo uncomfortable.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

Surfer, have them culture it; I had the same thing and it was cultured and they had to change the antibiotic; surgery+hospital+abdominal surgery=infection in a lot of cases and often it's a UTI. Get some cranberry juice or cranberry/raspberry (my favorite!) it helps to flush the system.

Yes I did have a catheter. For 2 days. I had to last minute run in and see my regular doc and have them run a test,my surgeon was too far away, came back as infection. Don't know if they will culture it or not. Got 2 big bottles of cranberry juice and hopefully will feel a little better by tomorrow.
Not sure how I got the infection, always drink lots of water. All Ive had since surgery is water and white grape juice to drink.

Janice...what happened did they give you 1 antibiotic and then it didn't work then they tried another??

I started on one, then a few days later my Dr. called me and changed it. They told me that the culture came back as whatever it was, but it needed a specific antibiotic. So it wasn't that I didn't think it would work, but the culture came back and they knew.

Glad you got to the bottom of your problem. That's what I figured you had. Been there, done that. Definitely must have been the catheter. Too bad you had one. Oh well...a few days of meds and you'll be back to your old self.
