Well, when my GI saw the film he said I have a classic case of achalasia. that's when the LES won't open up to allow food in. He's gong to do an endoscopy next monday to confirm it's not something else like cancer, etc, but he's recommending I have a heller's myotomy. It's where they cut the muscle on the esophagus to relieve the pressure, and then they do a partial wrap to avoid the reflux. The surgery would be done laproscopically.
It's one of those diseases/disorders that only about 1 in 200,000 get (why can't I be that lucky in the lottery!)
There's also the balloon dilation, but I hear most people have to have several, and often end up doing the surgery anyway.
anyone here been diagnosed with achalasia?
