my nissen fundo is stuffed after a month

Hi my nissen fundo is stuffed after amonth(my own fault not resting) acid in mouth24/7 now.fealing like crap naseas.been to hosp 3 days in arow.Losing weight.Got apptn with surgeon on tuesd.Hope he will do a redo if not i might be forced to drive over acliff.Can they do a redo .Im burping alot more too so wrap is loose.Was suicidal last nite.When a first has nissen done was wrapped till it broke down.What shall i do.What if the suerg says this can happen sorry.Im finished.Cheers for listening to this sorry tale I better go take my stress pills.....

We are here for you. They sure can do a redo. Maybe not your original surgeon. There are surgeons who specialize in fixing others mistakes. I found that person at Loyola University. It took over 2 1/2 years down here to try to figure out what was wrong with my wrap. I was finally sent to Loyola and met s great doctor there who has a swallowing clinic and does a lot of these redos. Mine was also done lasproscopically. Much better than an incision from breastbone to bellybutton.
Hang in there, there is hoe and poeple who are out there ust waiting to use their skills to help you.

I can certainly understand your anxiety and your fears.  Please try to take it one step at a time and prepare yourself well for your visit with your surgeon.

Write down all the questions you have and take your list with you to be sure you remember to ask about all of your concerns.

Thanks for the support.Im in nz and my original surgeon i will be comfortable doin the redo.He  is atop surgeon at a private hosp.Maybe some dont like to do redos.Please more help is nedded.Cheers......

Hi Cowboy,
I'm so sorry that you're struggling so with your surgery. Take a breath, and relax. You're going to be okay. If your wrap has slipped, they'll find out through tests, and they'll take care of it for you. Yes, it can be redone. Actually many here have had redos. I always thought that it would require an open surgery, but that's not so. A skilled surgeon can fix a wrap laproscopically.

Take this one day at a time, and try not to focus on it too much. Get your rest, try to read or watch TV, try not to think about your wrap a lot...it's only going to make you more anxious and upset. They WILL get you straightened around. We've all gone through times when we've thought our wraps were failing, so we know how scary and disappointing that is. Try not to worry...you will get better!

This is a good place to vent your feelings, so be sure to continue to post.

Thanks so kind Denise :-)   I cant get that dreaded acid taste out of my mouth and its makin me feel horrible. ppi not working,nausea.Im not really eating and stress pills not really helping.Im off to see the doc soon organises thru mental health thats how low i am believe me.Ive lost half stone in the last week and im 5ft8 and 11.5st cant afford to lose anymore.Baruim meal xray tues followed by surg tues and if he has no answers im finished.Cheers.....

Cowboy, try and keep it together for the sake of your family. I know your frustration. I was told there was nothing wrong with me and here I am finishing up my 3rd week of post op.

I'm up rite now because I still have a lot of imflimation and pain from the surgery even thoug I'm 3 weeks out and I have done nothing buttake it easy. It causes me paliptations which are extreamly uncomfortable, so I know how you feel but I have to keep a positive outlook and know that this will heal and eventaually pass.

You will get the help you need. I have found that doctors who perform this surgery do it because they like to help people feel better. They went out of their way to get special training to help people like us. They wont leave you in pain.

Try and relax as much as possible. Close your eyes and go to a happy time in your life. That allways works for me. Acid is stress related and the more you stress the more your stomach will produce.

Hang in there my friend. It took me 2 1/2 years to find a GI and surgeon who could figure out what was wrong with my first wrap. There are doctors out there who specialize in this and can do it laproscopically and want to help. Just a matter of finding them I am glad you have confidence in your surgeon. Sometimes these do slip and if it is going to happen it is usually in the first 1.5 years. Most within the first few months. It's not a perfect surgery and some times things go wrong, but it can be fixed. I am a testament to that. I never thought I would find someone to figure out what was wrong with mine. I even was beginning to believe the doctors who said it was all in my head and there was nothing wrong with the wrap. Until on day they decided to do one more barium swallow. The problem finally showed up on the Xray. It was very slight, but they could see it.
That got the ball rolling and I had my redo within 2 months after that. Don't let them tell you how or what you are feeling. If they are willing to help, move on to another doctor. Someone will want to help. If things rough and you just want to vent, here is a perfect place to do it. Most of u have been there and know just what you are feeling. If we don't we will listen and try to help if we can. If all you need to do is vent, we understand that too.

Bill your a life saver friend :-) :-) :-) .Im having barium meal swallow in 32 hrs time!!!! so that can show the wrap yeeeeeeeehar.Surg appt 4 hrs later(maybe the results to surg) .Gona b one hell o fa day.Ive got constant acid which is even keepin me awake here at 1230am talkin to you all.People sayin give it time.I know the warp is loose without a doubt .Others sayin your causin the acid by stress yeah rite!.I read a study tonight that 97pecent of people are happy with their nissen TEN years later!.Its all down to the surgeon as hes the builder and post op care which i totally stuffed up(washing car lmowin lawns 2wks out come on)If i hadnt done that i would o been sweet now.Thanks all and good to hear ya bill .Call in for a refreshment when your passing New Zealand Next!

If I ever make it that way, I'll be sure to stop by. New Zealand has always been on my list of places to visit. Thought I might have had a chance when I was in the Navy, but got East
coast orders instead of West Coast. Almost made it after the first Gulf War when the the ship or squadron was attached to went home the said the were going to Australia and New Zealand. We thought we could go along for the ride, nope they kicked our butts off the ship in Abu Dhabi and said good luck n getting home. We only had to tear apart 6 huge helos and load them on a C-5 to go home.

Bill's a great one to talk to, since he has experienced a failed wrap and successful redo. Listen to his advice--he knows what he's talking about! Stay with us here...you can rant, yell, ask questions, and find lots of people to support you. Members here know what you're going through, and will try to help you as much as we can!

Thanks Denise :-) :-) So it sounds normal to be agitated and upset when the wrap fails.Ive had support workers ringing me everyday and feel life is rubbish.I still feel nauseas and my appetite is not that great.Whats goin on there?.Im lookin forward to my brekie in the morn (barium meal).lol .Thanks all.The more support the better.Cheers....

Of course you'll be upset if you think the surgery you sought to give you relief isn't working for you. It's nice to get calls from friends, but when you're not recovering the way you'd hoped, it can be difficult. I'm sure they don't really understand what you're experiencing.

That's what's great about this forum! There are lots and lots of people who know JUST what you're going through, and can give you support, information, and hope.

After a failed wrap am not sure if you can lift weights. Wouldn't think so but that is an question for your surgeon.
If he says you can ask how long after. Don't want to have another failure.

Thanks all for the kind words :-) Im just takin it one day at a time at the moment and goin for a mam test in a few weeks but feel heaps better ,more energy,needing less sleep but another newe dat tom with its battles.Take care all.Who knows I may even look some of you up one day.Certainly wont be a day trip lol....
