Here is what I've done to get off Nexium. First of all I did expect rebound effect.
I was prepared, I had did research on PH first. I bought PH strips and leared the best time to test. My PH was bad. I bought a juicer and juiced up Kale, carrots and apples the first week. I ate alkaline foods and had had PH pills on hand.
When I stopped Nexium, I had lots of burning acid. I used PH pills, Brioschi and DGL
I got through it within about a week and 1/2.
Then I maintained by taking two chewable DGL's 20 minutes before meals.
I would take them before getting out of bed in the morning ...........You get use to the taste, to me it was worth trying to get my tummy and reflux back to a state of health.
My biggest fear with stopping the Nexium was that my throat tightness and difficulity swallowing would come back. That did NOT happen. I'm doing pretty good.......still have to watch the diet if you are the type to do that then I say go for it, if not take the pill.
I do not drink alcohol, but can have some wine if I've taken my DGL.
This reflux has been a nightmare for sure...........good luck to all of you.
