Congrats on the new job!
I know what you mean though -- I'm just starting to change my diet (since it's obvious I'm not going to get a quick fix from meds) and I'm starting with eliminating the most common GERD triggers: caffeine, tomatos, garlic, onions, chocolate, etc. My coworkers and I all get along well but so much of what we do involves around food! We go out to eat every Friday and since there's a limited selection of restaurants in our area, we often end up going to places like pizza buffets, chinese buffets, Taco Bell, etc. People are always bringing in donuts and baked goods to work. And our get togethers outside of work often involve food -- for Halloween we're having a party at one guy's house and the main course is going to be vegetable and vegetable beef soups, which I bet all have tomatos, etc.... guess I'll eat the crackers, maybe some of the more bland desserts!
I have yet to tell them about my GERD and new diet since I haven't gone out to eat with them lately, but I guess I will soon.... otherwise they'll tease me for not eating three heaping plates of pizza like they all do ;)
