I had my endoscopy yesterday, they found no evidence of a hiatal hernia or esophagal damage. They did find some spots in my stomach (near where it connects to the esophagus) that my doctor was not exactly sure what they were so he took some biopsies. His guess is some sort of infection -- I'll find out in my follow-up next week. Perhaps I don't even have GERD but have an infection instead?
My question is, are HH's always visible in endoscopies? Or can a sliding HH come and go? I was so sure my chest pains were an HH since they got better when standing or straightening my body, worse when sitting or slouching, drastically improved when I started avoiding common GERD trigger foods (though sometimes I still got them for no apparent reason)... I will ask the doctor at my follow-up, of course, but I was wondering if any of you knew :)
