Help can't stop burping !!

Hi I have HH and Barretts Disease, currently I am taking Prilosec OTC 20mg which was working for awhile (about 3wks) then I started burping 24/7 again.  My doctor wants to put me on Nexium but as of right now my insurance company wont pay for it.  I can't handle burping all the time, anyone with any ideas would be helpful.

Okay, First welcome to Healingwell.
Second, Nexium has a coupon you can sign up for to help pay for the medicine. Just go to their website and click on purple pill program. I use it to help pay a smaller co-pay.

I feel I must warn you that longterm use of PPIs can cause small polyps to grow in your stomach. I just found out I have them. There is a small chance of them becoming ulcers.

One more thing I'd like to mention is with you having a HH you really need to get it fixed. There is two surgery options available with people with HH.
There's the Nissen 360 wrap they take the floppy top of your stomach and sew it hotdog style around the esophagus. Some people have tightness troubles from it.
The other option is the Hill procedure. The Hill is where they take the floppy part of the stomach and wrap it 270 degrees around the esophagus. There is no tightness complaints from people who have had the Hill.

I'm due to have the Hill done on the 22nd of December. I plan to start a special thread when it's gets closer to the surgery.

A hiatal hernia and  constant burping can go hand in hand. 

Another cause of burping could be a problem with your gall bladder, have you ever had any tests for gallbladder disease?  Just a thought.

I think the idea for the coupons for Nexium was a great solution to help you defer your expense for this medication.

You can appeal the decision to deny Nexium. I can't imagine they won't allow it. It's even on the medicare list. You might have to have the doctor write a note saying it's medically necessary in your case. You'll probably have to have him say you tried all the ones they allow and they failed.
