I caught a nasty cold that turned into Bronchitis, sinus infection, and double ear infections.
I'm on Z-pak, hydrocodone, and afrin. I feel better this evening than I did this morning. I'm still wheezing but not as bad.

I wish your hubby well and you try to relax some. Do something to distract you until then.

Hey Kitt, I'm praying for you and your hubby. I know what a painful thing that is he has to deal with. I hope this helps get rid of some of the daily pain for him. I've been trying to catch up on sleep and have had lots of appointments. I'm trying to get over a sinus infection too. Last night brought a trip to the ER as I steamed my right eyeball and inside of my nose and the outside. One of my sisters drove me and every time I took the ice pack off it hurt like heck. I told my sister I thought this topped the list for stupid things for me in the last year but she still thinks the tampon incident was the dumbest one. Lol. I have to go back to see the regular doc on Friday for a recheck. I stopped into the eye doc today since he was next to my chiropractor just to ask if I could use a moisturizing eye drop with the numbing one the hospital gave me and he insisted on looking at my eye. Good thing he did because he found abrasions on my cornia from the steam and he also insisted on flipping my eye lid and he found a chunk of makeup that he said would have caused an infection. He also put an antibiotic in after he was done. All I can say tonight is thank goodness for the numbing eye drops and pain pills. Well you hang in there and know we are all thinking of you and praying for you. Your hubby is lucky to have the very best nurse to take care of him and nurse him back to health.

Joy I hope your feeling better real soon. I hope it doesn't cause any problems with your asthma. I wish I could send you some of my home made chicken soup. I got some good news from my lung doc yesterday. He said my lungs sound really good and I don't have to go back for a year if I have no problems. He also said he was behind me not taking the niaspan for cholesterol as mine is really good and he doesn't want my stomach or asthma acting up from me taking that. So that makes 2 doctors and my chiropractor that are standing behind me on my decision to not take that stuff. Oh goody time to go numb my eyeball again and take my pain med. Time to go rest my eye too. Take care my friend and feel better. Barb

Ouch, Barb!
I thought I had cornered the market on weird accidents. Thank goodness you did stop at the eye doc early. I once had to go to the ER for hitting myself in the eye with an exercise stretchy band. It cut my eyelid, scratched my cornea, gave me a black eye, and shook up the pigments in my eye.

I'm still coughing something terrible. My throat is getting irritated from all of the hacking. I've got one more day on antibiotics.

It's not my asthma. I'm coughing up nasty green gunk with blood in it now. I'm going back to the doctor today. :(

Thanks all and we are making great progess, NG tube just came out this morning so sips of clear liquids..........hubby is very pleased with this. :)

Joy, have you had a chest xray.............wondering if you have pneumonia? Get yourself looked at today as coughing up blood is not a good thing and you may need a strong antibiotic with lots of rest to overcome this infection that seems to have grabbed hold of you my friend.

Barb, ouch, itchy eyeball...........drives you crazy. Sounds like your physicians need to get together and have a care conference and come up with a plan for you looking at the big picture of your overall health issues when planning what tx to offer you. Most of the popular drugs used to treat high cholesterol are in a class of drugs known as statins. They all seem to have the side effect of being hard on your stomach, nausea etc.

Kitt, I'm glad to hear that your husband's surgery has gone well and that he's happy with his progress. I'm sure the removal of the NG tube was time for celebration. I'm so glad that the hospital has wi-fi so you can use the internet while you're there. My son has a young friend (probably about 27 or 28) with Crohn's. After many surgeries and continued unbearable symptoms, he just had his entire colon removed. He's a great kid, and I feel so badly that he's going through this at such a young age. Please tell your husband I'm sending him lots of healing wishes! Sorry I haven't been around the forum much. I try to get on whenever I have a chance. I've been really sick, and haven't had the energy to even look at the computer.

Joy, do you think germs can carry from Georgia to Central New York? We had our Winter Recess this past week, and I spent the week SICK, SICK, SICK. I'm really lucky that I have a wonderful family doctor who knows me like no other. When I described my symptoms to him, he told me I needed to be seen. I was at our townhouse, about an hour from home, so we made an appointment and headed to the doctor's office.

He was very concerned, and not only gave me a Z-Pac (my stomach can only handle amoxicillin and Z-Pac) as well as a shot of Rocephin. He was concerned with the intensity and speed that the infection (bronchitis and sinusitis) came on. (He did a chest X-ray with no pneumonia) I had to go back DAILY to have my lungs checked and receive an additional Rocephin shot.

His aggressive approach really helped me a lot. I still don't feel great, but my sinuses are pretty well cleared--only clear mucous, and my lungs have very little (very light) mucous, although I still have tightness and wheezing--that'll probably last a while. I'm so glad I have a doc like him. I'm planning on keeping him when we move, and will try to find a doc up here who's willing to consult with him. Hope I find someone who's willing to do that. I've got a very sensitive stomach, and lots of strange, quirky, chronic problems. Nobody knows me like my family doc does. Wish he'd move with me!

How did you steam your eye? I'm assuming you were cooking...I guess it's easy enough to do. Just lift a lid and look in, open a bag of microwave popcorn,, etc. Hope it heals quickly. Hope all is well with you and your family!

How's the new job? I haven't read the whole thread, but I think I read you're still dealing with pain. I hope you find relief soon.

Denise, think this bug just likes teachers right now. This is my second time having pneumonia in a year. I had it back in November last year.
I'm beginning to feel better on my second day of stronger meds.
I'm going to be out tomorrow and go back on Tuesday.
I like my new doctor because he's treating my cholesterol and hypothyroidism better, but my old doctor treats my bronchitis more aggressive than he does. I'm pulled many ways about the two. I wish I had one who would do both.

Joy maybe once he realizes how sick you get if not treated right away with stronger meds he'll do a better job of getting on top of it right away. My allergy doctor freaked out when I saw him at the end of December and had another sinus infection. He put me on strong meds for 3 weeks so it wouldn't go into my lungs and affect my asthma like it had in September when I was hospitalized for 5 days. How long have you had your new doctor? Try talking to him about this too. I know that doesn't always help but it's worth a try any way. Barb

Joy I hate it when doctors don't listen to the patient. It's like hey we've lived in this body for so many years and knows what works and doesn't work when we have chronic problems. Is there any way to get the report to him on your visit to the clinic showing him what had to be done to get you better. That might help. I am going to look into getting a report on my cholesterol from my old doc showing it up at 280 so I can show my heart doc how much it has really come down. I don't know what my LDL used to be just my highest over all cholesterol. I am hoping this gets them off my back about my LDL which is down to a healthy 112. I feel the damage to my artery was from my years of very unhealthy diet and predinizone for months at a time for my UC I had so bad for 12 years. What is Medrol? Well time for me to go take a nap as I worked the over night last night and need my sleep to get over my infection. This is my 3rd sinus infection since September. We are quite the bunch around here with all these infections. I'm glad your feeling better. Barb

Sorry to hear your husband had a setback, but glad to hear he continues to progress. It's so hard to have a chronic illness that is so intense. He's lucky to have you and your loving support. Your knowledge of medicine is certainly helpful--especially in the hospital. You've got to watch out for his best interests. I hope he continues to get better and heals quickly. I'll bet he (and you) enjoyed having your little granddaughter visit! Have a great week and try to get some rest yourself. You've got to take care of yourself, so you can be there for him!

Glad to hear you're getting better. I'm worried about dealing with doctors when we move. It's hard to change, but I'm not afraid to ask questions and take some control of my own treatment. I definitely need to find docs who will listen to me, and answer my questions.
Hope you have a good week at school. Don't overdo it. I'm staying home a few days, depending on how I feel.

Your eye accident has made me more aware of the danger of steam! My asthma is really hanging on. My infection is better and the mucous has subsided, leaving me with some wheezing and coughing. I still feel exhausted. Hope you're feeling well. You sound great!
