Hi. My name is Chris and I am a new member. I have been lurking here since suffering severe GERD nearly 12 months ago (severe chest pains (I've had 4 ecg's), referred pain etc).
I am in late 40's and live in Singapore, from Australia where my family live. I travel frequently and my diet can be somewhat up and down, particularly in out of the ways parts of what we call 2nd-3rd world countries
I have decided since yesterday to quit pantoprazole (40mg) after starting DGL Licorice on Monday and also modifying my diet severely. I have started following the "Eat Right for you Type" diet (er4yt), cut out all wheat etc. However I have been taking colofac (mebeverine hydrochloride) for IBS flare this week. Had IBS for many years. They all seem to go hand in hand.
I have lived in a couple of different places the last three years, China then Mexico where I became severely ill with typhoid and had to be sent back to Aus. This may have excaerbated my reflux problems which I have had for many years. The typhoid also caused problems with my thyroid, picked up by a thoughtful doctor (and friend) in Aus, which responded to treatment.
Has anyone here tried the er4yt diet? If so how did you respond? I have thought for many years that certain things weren't good for me, the essentials of life like wheat, alcohol, chocolate, coffee (caffeine) etc. I do miss them!
Cheers, Chris
