Hi Mam, I had the surgery last July and have been posting off and on since then. It is helpful when you see that others have the same reactions you do. I still get the bad bloating, gas and pain in the pm after eating. Not all the time. It is so hard to eat light in the evening if you have been working all day and worked up an appetite. I have oatmeal in the am with applesauce and soy milk and usually just fruit. By the time I get home, I want some CARBS but that is often a mistake. I have found rice cooked in chicken broth works well to fill up without overdoing it. A little meat doesn't bother me, but spicy stuff and too much oil is irritating, so I do better when I go easy. It is gradually getting better, but it has taken a longggggg time to start feeling normal or almost normal. It is just a matter of taking it easy. I had pretty good luck when I planned out what to eat for a week or so, but don't always have time. I am trying not to go to the store when I am hungry and focus on a little lean meat and mild veggies. Hope your situation starts getting better. I still have the painful after effects like you mentioned, but it is usually because I ate too much. I think your experience sounds very typical and is likely just gas. It is frustrating. My surgery was to correct a giant hernia and messed up diaphgram. I think it is just that we want to eat like before and that is probably not so great. I lost about
25 pounds and now am at my ideal weight and have pretty high energy so some good with the bad. For me, I just need to get more serious about
bland foods which is sooo contrary to my preferences and less carbs. Good luck, this is a great site for information and exchanging information. Hope you feel better and better as time goes by.
