GERD problems please help

Hi i just recently believe i have developed gerd. I have a lump feeling in my throat, trouble swallowing, soar throat in the mornings, excessive salivation and heartburn. Last night was the first night i have felt such pain in my chest from heartburn that it led me to throwing up. Is it possible to suddenly develop gerd? I have enlarged tonsils also and i am getting them removed on june 25th, does anyone think this may be contributing to my problems? When my tonsils get removed will these symptoms go away? Also, how do i treat this lump in my throat as it is very uncomfortable? Thank you.
