Hi everyone, thank you for the warm welcome.
Hi Joy, yeah I've been tested for H. Pylori, by a blood test initially and I had an endoscopy done in November, and I tested negative for it both times.
The results of my endoscopy were negative/normal, even though I'm still having lots of symptoms with acid - bloating, belching, reflux, nausea etc. But I've heard that can happen in some cases.
I've had numerous blood tests since first being ill, although I don't remember exactly what they were all testing for now, without asking my GP.
I went to see a consultant/gastroenterologist at hospital a couple of weeks ago. I had to give a blood test and a urine sample. I have to go back to the doctor to discuss the results (appt is in 2 weeks) as it sounds like something positive must have come back from them, but I don't know what yet until I see the doctor. My GP referred me, as one blood test I had done by him a month or so back was also positive, he mentionned the possibility of me having an auto immune disease. Right now, still waiting to see if doctors have any further information. I've also got another endoscopy booked for the 17th June due to me still having symptoms, although not holding my breath on that one, knowing my luck, the results will be exactly the same as last time.
I also had an ultrasound scan done on Thursday. I think that was to rule out the possibility of gallstones, as I sometimes have stomach pain. I won't have those results for a couple of weeks yet though.
I'm currently on 40mg of Esomeprazole/Nexium and 10mg of Domperidone, but they're not really eliminating symtoms.
Right now, going through lots of tests, it's all a bit of a waiting game. Although the consultant I ended up seeing wasn't the nicest person. Just seemed very irritable, can't be bothered, couldn't care less attitude, although he did very reluctantly and begrudgingly agree to order these tests :S I was originally booked in with someone nice, who a friend of mine knows, but my appointment by my regular doctor was brought forward as I was having black stools at one stage after a severe acid episode - at one point I could taste blood at the back of my throat after an excess acid episode. So yeah, I'm not sure if it's worth getting a 2nd opinion if I have no luck with this doctor as this guy doesn't seem very motivated or bothered to help me...
I have heard of the option of surgery - Laparoscopic surgery for people with GORD/GERD where medication is ineffective, however I don't know if they agree to do that or not if endoscopy results were normal.
So yeah that's where I'm at so far. Sorry that was a really long post :S A lot going on right now I guess lol :)
