Is zegerid not stong enough?

Here I go again...feeling really lousy lately and am back on Zegerid but it doesn't seem to be working too well. I have been eating a lot of tomatoes and spicy foods lately and my gastritis/gerd has been really bad and nothing is touching the burn. I just took some pepto with the zegerid and my question is, is the zegerid not strong enough and what else is there to take?? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

There are other drugs your Dr. may prescrib for you besides Zegerid (omeprazole). I was on this drug twice a day for awhile when my GERD kicked into high gear but after a month or so I was able to go back to once daily.

Watch the acid foods and spicy stuff.

I guess the problem really is that once I start to feel somewhat good i go back to my old eating habits believing I can eat whatever I want and then I get sick all over again!! Shame on me I guess.

Hi Tinlou,
Don't feel too bad about your eating behavior...we've all been there! It's very easy to do.
Just talk to your doc, and consider (as Kitt said) doubling your dose for a while.

Hi Tinlou,

It's hard to resist the good tasting food. Seems like the more I can't eat something, the more I want it!

You might give Prevacid 24HR a try. I've had good luck with that and you can buy it without a prescription.
