No Supplements pre-surgery?

Went today for all my pre-surgery testing and was told to stop taking all my supplements and vitamins and not to resume them after surgery until the Dr OK'd it? I wonder why - they wouldn't explain that to me - these help sometimes more than the prescription drugs and especially now I can't take anything but Tylenol which does nothing for pain, it's really frustrating. Anyone else with the same experience? Also I first got a letter saying for me to bring all my meds to the hospital and now they said to leave them all at home but I'm going to ask if I can bring them and they dispense them from my supply. I really hate paying all over again for what I already have.

I was told to get off all the supplements. Some of them can cause bleeding post-op.

For other surgeries I have taken my own meds and kept them myself, taking as needed. But for the fundo I just took what they gave me. I was fine without my vitamin for a few days!

Post-op I couldn't swallow pills, so I was given liquid meds. I did open the Nexium capsule (it's allowed anyway) and just swallowed the tiny granules with a drink.

They told me to bring them, but not to take them unless they gave the okay to take.
