You'll get lots of pains, Joe. You've just been through major surgery. Just because you have 5 little holes in your stomach and you don't look like you've been through much, remember that your insides were treated to a "mixer"...moving things around to get to your stomach/esophagus, rearranging your GI tract, etc. You've got internal stitches, and your organs will have to get adjusted to their new positions.
Of course you should call your surgeon if you have concerns. He/she will want to know about things that are bothering you.
Try to relax and think about other things.
It'll make your recovery easier!

That's the area where they probably closed any hernia that was present. If it's near the bottom of the sternum it's also where the fundo lump is now.

When I was in my car wreck that pushed my stomach into my chest, it hurt just like the heart attack I'd had years earlier - right dead center under the sternum. Where the stomach comes through the diaphragm is a lot higher that most people know, including me.

The docs generally have to go through there into the mediastinum to dissect down enough esophagus to make the wrap. A lot of injury occurs there!

Just watch your portions and it will begin to ease some.

Joe I know what you mean about over reacting to pain. I had gallbladder surgery and 3 days afterwards I bent down to tuck sheets in a bed and got a very sharp pain under my top incision. I was extremely worried and rang everyone I could think of for reassurance including my surgeon. No one could tell me exactly what it was they all said could be this could be that which made me even more worried. It throbbed away for at least 4 days and then gradually settled. I guess when we've been cut and had instruments inserted into those cuts we are bound to have some little niggles afterwards. You will be ok Joe don't panic too much. Take it easy and rest up to give your body time to heal.

I think it takes a lot longer than we think for our bodies to heal really properly from that kind of trauma. In todays fast paced society we expect to be able to bounce back and be fighting fit in no time. You will get there.
