Occasional squeezing in the chest

GERD is fairly new to me this year and every so often I discover another symptom
of this disease. I take a PPI which generally controls it well but I do get the
occasional heart burn, feeling of the food stuck in my throat and it taking a
while to go down, gas, etc. Lately I have had a battle with sinus issues and
have had some nasty headaches. Unfortunately Advil is the only med that will
help these headaches and I've been taking it almost daily for a few weeks.
Anyway, since the Advil I have occasionally felt like there is a squeezing
feeling that starts right below my throat and ends right above my breasts. I
don't think it is cardiac. I am 40 y/o and had a perfect echo earlier this year
(to rule out mitral valve prolapse) excellent cholesterol levels, normal BP,
generally in good health. Just wondering if this is another symptom that goes
along with this GERD. My sister in law who is a Dr said something to me once
about esophageal spasms with GERD...just wondering if it's true. Thanks

I figured it was probably the Advil b/c it started when I started using it. Well I had all the symptoms of gerd/ulcer (burning gnawing pain in stomach radiating to the back, gas, bloating, heartburn, food getting stuck 1/2 way down) so I self treated with first zantac then prilosec then prevacid. Prevacid was working great then all of a sudden stopped working and I could barely eat. I went to the Dr and turns out I was borderline H.Pylori so I was treated for that and switched to Nexium which works great but I do have the occasional GERD symptoms but they don't last long. I never went to a GI b/cthe Nexium seemed to be doing its job. My mother has GERD and a hiatal hernia and gets this squeezing feeling as well but I just wanted to see if it happened to anyone else.

Is that what causes that? I've wondered about it. I've got a HH but I didnt know it would cause the chest thing - it's not so much pain as it is a feeling of something being stuck there even though I'm mostly on a liquid diet.....
Of course, I feel that most of the time even when I've not just eaten or drunk something.
I've learned so much reading this forum....

Pedirn, you're not alone. : ) My "stuck" feeling is more between (and slightly above) my breasts - but then...they're really big so body proportion might have something to do with that.....
