I am 32 years old. I have been taking 40mg of Nexium for 8 years. I started taking it when I was pregnant with my first baby because of unberable hearburn. Now that I look back I think I always had digestion issues. I threw up (not spit up) when I was a baby...My mom eventually put me on goat's milk but nothing helped. She said I alway smelled bad. She would give me a bath and I would spit up right after. haha I now have three girls and everyone of my babies spit up really bad. My first child was the worst and I think she has the same constitution I have.
Anyway, July 2010 I had natural hormones implanted just under the skin because I have suffered with depression and anxiety all my life and always felt it was because of hormones. The past comple of years my PMS has gotten so much worse, very moody, exhausted by noon every day, not being able to sleep very well. I was also diagnosed with hashimotos thyroid disease. For those reasons I did the pellets. A couple of months after the pellets were implanted and taking Naturethroid for the hacshimotos disease...I was noticing I was have unbearable heatburn all the time. The nexium had always kept my GERD symptom at bay so I was wondering what was going on! I racked my brain and finally realized the only thing I had changed in my life was the hormone implants (small dose of estrogen and testostrone). So, I called the Dr. that did the implants and asked if they might be related and he said no way. I don't think he has a clue! It's just my theory of course, but I am pretty convinced the hormones might have triggered this strong reaction. The nexium doesn't even seem to work any more! I have lost my voice, have burning at the back of my throat and have lost 8 pounds (because I have had to cut so many things out of my diet and I don't want to eat because it hurts). :( I had an enoscopy done the end of September and it showed a small hiatal hernia and benign pollyps. After the test about 30 mins. I had a fever and then that night threw up and the other end. My cough developed into bronchitis. I was miserable! I just had an upper GI test done on 10/22/10 and the Dr that did the test said I have bad acid reflux (I thought....I know!) I live in a small town and I don't know a GI Specialist....my primary Dr referred me to a surgeon because I tried different medicines (Zantac was what I was taking when I lost my voice b/c the acid was burning my throat) I tried dexilant too....no relief. My Dr said the only choice I then have is surgery (hence the referral to the surgeon). :( I have been researching for 3 days online what to do. I am miserable enough to get the surgery but would rather find a natural way to help myself. I just want to feel better and be happy!!!!
This is not my only health issue either....I have symphysis pubis dysfunction (this cause constant pain in my hips and pubic area), which is usually only in pregnant women but mine didn't heal. It's very painful!!! My baby is now 2 and half and the Dr.'s don't give me any hope that it will go away because it usually heals within 2 months of giving birth. I had x-rays done which show a small peice of bone broke off. I know that was during the birth of my third child because I was in so much pain. I say that and the dr looks at me like I am crazy. :(
I am open to advise especially of people that can relate and has a solution!!! :)
