Hi I just had a Lap Nissan Fundoplication wrap Monday, Jan 10th by a Dr. who basically gave me a quallty of life back. Outside of the surgery procedure pain meds I can proudly brag that for the 1st time in 12 years I am forever PPI free!!
about me, I am a 40 year old female with a very active, fun family lifestyle.
Preoperative tests included 2 endoscopies, 24 hour bravo test, barium swallow test, and a manometry.

12 year sufferer of severe acid reflux, hiatal hernia, & GERD who could not go two days without prescription Nexium or Prevacid before Nexium came on the market. August 2010 I was forced to seek a 2nd opinion when my GI Dr. stated he could not see me til December as my symptoms worsened to missing days from work. Seeking a new GI led me a place I never knew existed for relief!

Today, 4 days out I am resting, very important to do. Dr. says my LNF was textbook perfect, she is the BEST in the field of study. I like when she demanded my family allow me to recoup In my home, telling my family to take care of my every need. I'm following the post LNF diet of liquids, mushy stuff. Watered grits were not nice to my new wrap so I went back to liquids until I venture to the mushy foods again. You Got to Take It ssllooww & easy. Thanks for listening.

You sound like you're doing good. The most important thing to do now is rest and liquids. Remember keep your servings to no more than 1/2 cup a meal. Limit your bending over and don't lift anything over 5 lbs the first six weeks.
You'll be swelling up until you peak at week 2 then the swelling will go down by week 4. I was told to stick to liquids until then by my doctor, then go to soft mushy foods.
Many of us have learned to avoid mashed potatoes, rice, bread, and steak until week 12.
Stick around for any post-op questions.

It is always good to hear about outcomes. It is starting to look like mine will be sometime in February, good healing to you one4tee4

Thank you Joy! I took a bend earlier today that reminded me to sit my self down somewhere, haha! I've been reading this board for a while now - I think I found it during my preoperatve tests. Information here helped me when I thought I could not take "one more test" but I hung in there because I wanted to make sure they saw Everything I had been feeling.
Yes Pat, I searched a lot for good outcomes from this procedure as well, knowing people openly seek help when thing are not going as planned. I pray for those still looking for answers. As for me, I'm happy & I wanted to encourage those preparing for their experience.

Today, 9 days out I am still recovering, feeling more energy every day. Post-op appt today went well, my bullet wounds (named by my daughter) are healing nicely. Thinking I’ve become lactose intolerant because of how gassy I become after trying any dairy products, nothing else bothers the tummy. Our pet dog and I walk the subdivision looking for something new to discover as I toot along, lol The bloat and gas pains with the new wrap is not worth the outcome. I have no problem doing without any dairy for awhile, my Dr. and family agrees hahahaha!

Good to hear things are going well. I have my surgery this Thursday. Trying to soak up all the good and bad i have been reading about the post-op lifestyle.

Toots are a natural side effect of the surgery. Because the gas can't go up anymore it goes down. :S
As your wrap settles over the next year the toots get fewer and softer.

ok i have a question then. currently i can burb on command. always have been able to. i would say i am not normal in this department tongue so will i completely loose this ability or will i be normal. not sure what to expect with this one.

Most likely you'll loose the burping on command. I have a 270 wrap and I can still burp loud if I drink a soda. Others have said they can't burp anymore. 50-50 chance I'd say.
