Hi
I tested positive for h-pyroli and have just finished the week long anti-b course on sunday. My symptoms which are  nausea (strangely no pain), are still persisting. They did ease a lot when on the anti b. I went bact to doc who says i need to wait 2 weeks and then have the breath test to check if it cleared. My questions is
1. has anyone else had ongoing symptoms after treatment even if it is cleared and how long should they last?
2. I would like to try some herbal med like liquorice tabs - is it possible to do so prior to the breath test?
3. My doc says if i test neg net time but still nauseous he will send me for other scans - what else could it be. I have no other symptoms only nausea.

Antibiotic medications are used to treat H. pylori infection. Doctors typically prescribe a combination of medications, with the hope that this strategy will help keep H. pylori from developing a resistance to one particular medication. You'll likely take two antibiotic medications for 14 days.

Your doctor may recommend that you undergo testing for H. pylori several weeks after your treatment. A follow-up breath or stool test may confirm that the H. pylori bacterium is no longer present in your body and treatment was successful. Sounds like this is what is planned for you.

Or follow-up testing may show that treatment was unsuccessful. In that case, you may undergo treatment again, receiving a different combination of antibiotic medications. Reference Mayo Clinic Staff

I am sorry I cannot help you by answering your question "what else could it be ?" Please try not to over think your problems and follow up with your physician. 

I am sure you will hear from other members that have had H. pylori infection.

Thank you Kitt for your reply, as you can tell im not a very patient patient. It is just this inbetween stage while I wait on the 2nd test but still have the symptoms.

Hello newbe4, I am also new here, well a few months new. I have been going through some testing to find out what is going on with my GERD. I am on a PPI and have been tested for Hpylori and it came back negative, but I had also been told that it is possible for it to come back false negative, and what were your symptoms?

My symptoms are purely nausea, sometimes it can be constant. what about you?
