I have GERD, have had it for years. In Dec. I had a horrible attack in my stomach, had an Upper Endoscopy-no h.pylori, had gastritis. Still more attacks, turned up I was diagnosed with Biliary Dyskinesia. Had my gallbladder out Feb. 7th. I still have some stomach issues from time to time. The surgeon said I may still have symptoms for a while but my question is: Can you have a Hiatal Hernia that comes and goes? If so, what's the best way to figure this out? Also, has anyone else had their gallbladder out and can they tell me how long it took before they were able to eat normal food again? Also, did you ease into it or did you wait like 3 full months and then eat something fatty, just how did you go about it?

Hello, I may be able to give you some info on the hernia.  A hiatal hernia occurs when part of your stomach slips through an opening between your esophagus and your stomach, an area that should be joined continuously without any openings at all. Instead, an opening has ripped or simply broken apart, leaving a space where the stomach can fold up upon itself and sneak a corner or pocket out into that opening. Many people have small hiatal hernias that go undetected for years. However, people with large hiatal hernias end up with the following symptoms: heart burn, nausea, chest pain, difficulty swallowing and other sx.

Can the hernia comes and goe,  I am sure some of the members with this problem can answer you in more depth.

i had my gallbladder out in dec of 09. it took about 2 months for the body to readjust. i take something called colystyramine oral to help with the binding of the bile because it irratates the intestines. but i have no problems eating anything. i was eating full meals a couple days after surgery with no problems stomach wise. but until your body readjusts to the gallbladder being gone you may have some potent diarreah. plus my gallbladder pains were on the right side..
