Hello All:
Have been reading and finding everyone's experience helpful.
I was just recenlty diagnosed with acid reflux and ibs (irritable bowel syndrome)...sexy right.
I went to the doc because was have the burning throat sensations, stomach bloating and gas. Doc gave me something for the reflux but I still had the burning, not as often but it still happened. Then the blood test results showed I aslo had H. pylori - a stomach bacteria...wonderful.
So I just finished the monster antibiotic treatment for the stomach bacteria and I am trying to change my diet, eating habits etc.
I've given up alcohol for sure, caffeine is gone, no chocolate, broccolli (and I love broccoli) had to go too, garlic, onions, tomatoes and stay away from fried foods.
I've tried the vingear option. I used apple cider vinegar... a few table spoons in some warm water down the hatch and I did feel better.
Pickle juice worked for me as well. I know it seems counter intuitive but I tried and it worked.
On the beverage side, I have been trying different teas and natural ways of handling the reflux.
Chamomile tea has been good to me so far (caffeine-free) especially if it has some anise with it. It helps with my digestion and the burning.
Drinking soda is out but when I have it's been caffeine-free and typically clear and that's been okay.
Aloe Vera Juice works some but not like I'd hoped. but they also have aloe vera gel that may coat the stomach better.
I am also taking liquid calcium which is supposed to help, flaxseed oil/fish oil and an omega 3 oil in capsule form and lactobacillius.
Fruits: Strawberries - good, grapes-good, watermelon-not so good, plums- ehh.
my body really seems to really like olives and olive oil too. they don't upset my stomach, no reflux and love them both so that works.
That's my two cents for now. I look forward to reading future posts and thanks for sharing.
