nissen operation

Hi Patricia,
Welcome to Healing Well! I also had a Nissen, but mine was a 360. I have not heard of hyperventilating when walking after the surgery. Have you discussed it with your GI doc or surgeon? Perhaps there are others who will be able to share a similar experience.

There is just one other thought I had. Some people get irritation or damage to the vagus nerve, which can cause hyperventilation symptoms. Here is a website that discusses it:

Hi Patricia,
You are so right. It takes 6 months for most of the healing to occur, and a full year for the rest. Be patient. I'm glad you're visiting the surgeon soon. He/she should be able to answer your questions.

hello everybody

i went to my surgeon and she thinks it is the esophegus and the vagusnerve.

i just have to heal further.

i hope it gets better,i am almost 9 weeks now after surgery.
