Hi Nickles,
Sure, I'll definitely post the results of my Naturopath appt. It's not for a few weeks. I live on the east coast.
Currently I am on a PPI twice a day and following the "GERD" diet.
I want to start looking into alternate routes so that I can eventually (hopefully) wean off of the PPI without too much rebound acid.
I tried DGL, not sure if it helped or not but I think it made me gassy. I've been off it for a few weeks and will probably try again to see if the gas returns.
I also take digestive enzymes and a probiotic.
I've found gargling with a baking soda/salt water mix has been a savior for my throat and mouth because I have quite a bit of reflux go way up, even into my nose, yuck.
I've been eating some Manuka Honey here and there just for fun mostly, as I do not have an ulcer and everything else I've been eating has been totally bland. The only formal "tests" I have had so far are an endoscopy and a test for H. pylori. No H. Pylori or ulcer, no hiatal hernia, just acid damage and esophagitis, initial diagnosis is LPR/GERD.
I also get bloating and belching but not all of the time and I have a lot of constipation which I am trying to treat with prune juice and Benefiber. If that does not work, I'll add in Miralax.
So, Im hoping that the Naturopath can help me get more of a good routine with regards to natural supplements and food.
I think too, that I am going to have to start some sort of stress relief program. My stress over this is getting worse and I know that stress will only make the reflux even worse. Also, I'm going to try to start some low impact exercise like walking every day, can't hurt, as long as my belly is empty.
I also sleep elevated and sometimes even sitting up (not comfortable but helps the reflux).
Good luck to you!
