e1wlpr - That is really wierd that surgery lowerd your acid levels in your esophagus, but made your LPR worse. Two things you may want to consider. 1. There is growing evidence that some LPR sufferers may have symptoms as a result of nerve damage. Since your doc didnt even know what LPR is, I doubt they will know how to test for this. You may want to go see Jaimie Koufman in New York. The idea is that some of the pain you may be feeling may be nerve damage, that can be treated with nerve drugs.
2. If its not nerve related and is acid, try chewing up a tums, taking a sip of water, and gargling it. Baking soda water (1tsp/8oz water) has a similar affect. This helps me when I get the burn in my throat. I have been dealing with LPR/Gerd/Gastritis for the last 7 months. I feel your pain. Its a cruel disease.
