Could GERDcause shortness of breath?

This is my first post on this site, and I was hoping I could get some advice/feedback.  Could GERD cause shortness of breath and some dizziness, accompanied with a feeling of fullness/pressure high in my abdomen (for the mom's out there, it's similar to the sensation after eating while being 9 months pregnant, with the exception of the dizziness).  It literally just started yesterday, at the beach w/my family. I thought I might have been overcome by the heat while unpacking the beach bags/laying out towels, etc (yes a lot of bending).  Or that I was having an allergy/asthma attack.  But it lasted about 2 hours.  My m-i-l said it sounds like gerd.  But I felt better after relaxing in the ac, so thought nothing of it.  Then it's happening again today at home in the ac, after doing the laundry (again bending over).  I definitely did not overeat on either occasion (in fact, I feel too full to eat).  Also, not sure if it's relevant, have hypothyroidism and take synthroid daily, along with advair for reactive airway issues.  On both days I was close going to ER, thinking I had a heart issue, but thinking I'm too young for that (36).  Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, gerd can cause that feeling. You need to talk with a doctor or gastroenterologist about this. You could be having gastritis or have H. Pyloria.

Yes I had the exact same symptoms. Felt the fullness/pressure in my abdomen particurlarly under my left side ribs. Would refer to it as my 'phantom baby' because it would come & go so often & I always had trouble eating because I got very full very quickly. I went to my GP about being short of breath all the time (I also had chest pains) & she referred me to a cardiologist who could find nothing wrong. I was given inhalers for 'adult onset asthma'. After a referral to a gastroenterologist who did all the tests & found as well as GERD I had a Hiatus Hernia.

I had an open Nissen fundoplication 5 weeks ago & have not had any of these symptoms since. The first thing I noticed after surgery was how easily I could breathe, deeply & effortlessly & I haven't used the inhalers since the morning of my surgery.

Please make an appointment with your doctor so you can get the answers that you need.

Thanks so much Lynda. Just calls my nerves to hear other people w same symptoms before I see my doc.
