esophageal dysmotility

Hi all,

Just curious. Who else has esophageal dysmotility due to long-term GERD? My dr. diagnosed me with that after two motility tests showed it (said that when it isn't caused by connective tissue disease, its caused by long-standing GERD). Still, he said that I probably will never get Barrets (I am 28, and was very confused as to how he could be so sure, especially if I have motility problems from GERD)...

Anyone else get a motility problem from GERD (but no Barrets)?

Hi ARM,

I may be wrong, but I believe he is comfortable saying that because you're being treated with PPIs. (I assume you are.) I had a lot of reflux for many years, but because I was on PPI's I didn't get Barretts. They don't see Barretts much any more because of the meds.
