What to take at bedtime?

I'm on Dexilant 60 mg in the AM. I have LPR/GERD.

I was told by medical professionals I was being overly medicated when I was taking (in addition to a Zegerid 40 mg), 2 Pepcid Complete in the AM and 1 at bedtime and 1 oz of Gaviscon 4 x day as per my GI doctor. I wasn't getting any relief.

Now that my GP has put me on Dexilant, I'm feeling better but I didn't think to ask about the Pepcid or Gaviscon.

I'm sleeping on a high wedge and taking 2 tablespoons of Gaviscon at bedtime but wondering if I should be taking something like Pepcid AC or Zantac?

I'd really appreciate your opinion.

i would prob take the zantac at night. If you have LPR you want to prevent acid secretion into your stomach. I think gaviscon neutralize after acid is already in your stomach.


i know the nexium + zantac combo works. However you need to ask your doctor about use with Dexilant. I am not familar with that drug.

Dexilant is actually the old drug, Kapidex (dexlansoprazole).

I will call my pharmacist and check with him. I do believe he's more knowledgeable than my doctor is.

I will post as soon as I find out.
