Hi Everyone, I am new to this website and glad I found it because of the support and reassurance you get on this forum.
Here's my situation and maybe someone can give me feedback.
I originally had an endoscope Dec. 2009. The doctor said that I had a Hiatal Hernia and it looked as though someone poured acid on my stomach. He's said that's bad and that if I don't start taking medication, down the line it could possibly turn into cancer. Well that scared me enough and I started taking my Aciphex. Fast forward to today and the past few weeks. I've been waking up at night and also during the day at no specific time not being able to breathe. I feel like I am gasping to breathe almost like a panic attack but I know it's not a panic attack because I've suffered with that as well.
When I swallow I feel like something is stuck in my throat and in the center of my chest. I am feeling the urge like I need to burp. This is causing discomfort in my chest. I went to my gastro dr. on Monday and I told him was a nervous wreck worrying about stomach or esophageal cancer. I am a very nervous person. It makes it worse to because my father-in-law passed away from cancer of the esophagus. My doctor told me "Julia, we just did a scope and biopsied that material and there was no sign of cancer, he went on to say that he highly doubts I have cancer. He said that stress and nervousness will aggravate the situation and make it worse. He wants to do another endoscope but I can't afford it. I am going to call his office this afternoon and ask if there is another, less expensive test he can do.
Last Friday I had an injection done on my cervical spine by my neck. I am freaking out because when I was laying on the table and the nurse was guiding the ultrasound machine so that the doctor can see where to inject the needle, his nurse commented "what's that"? Then I heard the doctor say "go down further". Since I am such a nervous person I am now thinking maybe the nurse saw something by my throat / esophagus area and they're telling me anything. So now my bad thoughts are snowballing and I am scared.
Surely if the doctor thought he saw something, wouldn't he say "Julia I think there is something by your throat and you need to go see your doctor about it? I hope. Well, my gastro dr. went on and prescribed me SYMAX-SL .125mg. I've only taken my first dose this morning and haven't noticed a change in my symptoms.
Can I get some feedback of anyone that has experienced what I am feeling and if so what was your diagnosis? I appreciate it.
Julia
