vomitting post Nissen???

I would say the majority of people can't vomit after surgery. I wasn't after my 1st 2 and believe this redo will be the same. That's why it's so important to have anti nausea meds handy all the time. Yes you can damage a wrap by dry heaving, not to mention it hurts very bad. I do know from way too many personal experiences. I fortunately didn't do any permanent damage to mine, but I know Alcie did damage her's from this.

The only real drawback I can tell is I was told by my surgeon that if I suspect food poisoning to get to the ER fast.

Ps. I did find a sure fire way to completely destroy a wrap..... have an esophagus stent in place through the LES for a month....That did it for me.

When I had my surgery I assumed I would not be able to vomit.  I always carry anti-nausea drugs, just in case.  about a year ago I wasn't feeling well, but had no nausea.  Suddenly, I vomited.  And yes...I mean vomited.  So, I'm one of those who can vomit after a Nissen.  Still, I wouldn't recommend it.  I took my anti-nausea drugs immediately, and continued taking it every four hours until I was better.  It worked, too...If I went a moment past the four hour mark, I'd be heading to the bathroom.

I'm happy to deal with this issue, since my Nissen has restored the health of my lungs--and they were very sick!
