Hi Solivar,First, I want you to know that you'll be able to drink as much water as you did before surgery, once you're healed. I am also a big water drinker, and even though it can get held up a bit at the wrap, I don't mind the sensation of it standing and then going through the wrap. I never go anywhere without water...my friend calls me a "liquid person".
Once your wrap heals more and gets past the swelling you'll be able to eat more. The reason you feel full with the tiniest amount of food is because your stomach is swollen and your brain interprets that as fullness. Once the swelling reduces you'll be able to eat more. It's a gradual thing, but little by little you'll add more to your meals.
The main thing to remember is that right now isn't how you'll be once you're healed. You will be able to go back to eating as much as you did prior to the surgery. Now, though, I suggest you try to eat those tiny meals throughout the day. I understand that swallowing can be a challenge at this point in your recovery. I remember it well. However, once you're able, eat several small meals throughout the day. That will keep you from losing as much weight.
Glad to hear your shoulder is feelng better.
Hang in there! Things will improve. It just takes time.
Denise
(PS--In what area do you live? I'm just curious.)
