I like yourself have had no relief from ppi's, I've been through the whole lot and h2 blockers and they just took the edge off. I also had the unfortunate side effect of weight gain which just made it a million times worse. So, I decided to come off ppi's completely and try a more natural approach. I have been off ppi's for a week, and I'm feeling much better. Hardly any problems at all. I know this may not be ideal for everyone, but for me It's working great. What I take now is slippery elm tea twice daily morning and night, DGL chewable tablets 20 mins before food, digestive enzymes and non acidic Ester C with meals, apple cider vinegar once or twice daily, and aloe juice daily. As I said not for everyone, but I'm going really well and considering 2 weeks ago I was thinking about
surgery, that's now the last thing on my mind.

I have been suffering from GERD for about 7 years now, and during that time I've tried about 5 PPIs. I have never had any relief from them. I've now had a consultation for Nissen, and the surgeon said that in some people who have no response to PPIs, the surgery is less successful - from a 95% success rate down to 85%.
Considering I have no other way of getting relief, I am leaning toward getting the surgery. I was just wondering if anyone else here encountered this problem, and what they decided to do about it? I have moderate GERD that is progressing to severe, so the surgeon says I will probably need Nissen eventually anyway, and I'd rather get it sooner than later. I'm just a little concerned about the surgery potentially being less successful for me.
Thank you!
