Wouldn't this be automatically considered "elective surgery" under an insurance plan?

I told my surgeon I wanted to wait untill after summer to get the Nissan....now I pray I will by able to go the LINX route.

Hopefully it will be available in my home state of Indiana.

1) How are you now?
2) Do you still have dysphalgia?
3) Are you still taking PPI?
4) Did you have to go back to Italy after your operation for any reason?
5) How is your diet?

I have been suffering from Gerd symptoms since i was 18, currently 42. Recently had the Bravo 48 hr ph and manometry testing. The manometry came back ok but my Johnson-Demeester score was 48 day one with acid in the esophagus 16 % of the day. Day 2 Johnson-Demeester score was 60 with acid in espohagus 20% of the day.

Gastro sent me to a surgeon who was very confident has a good resume and wants to do the Nissen. After meeting with surgeon number 1 went to see Dr John Lipham who studied under and works with Thomas Demeester. Dr Lipham has recommended the Linx for I fit the criteria for the procedure. I am Apprehensive about the procedure for I am allergic to stainless steel and nickel but not titanium. I have been told by Dr Lipham that the manufacturer said would be no problem and that it is pure titanium. Titanium itself is not magnetic and therefore my assumption is the titanium encases the alloy or whatever is magnetized. I am worried about some kind of allergic reaction on top of the obvious concerns of this type of surgery. I am scheduled for surgery on 07-25-12 and would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I think I read somewhere that the type of magnet used in the linx is neodymium. That type of magnet is often an alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron. I suppose if you did have a reaction to the implant then it could always be removed.

Sorry I took so long to check in on this string. I am 255 days post Linx install. No PPIs. Feel normal. Haven't gone to a doctor for anything since the surgery. My Gastro doc recommended a scope at the one year mark -so I will have that done in November. Totally worth it so far.

Greetings from the UK. I am 20 days post Linx operation and would like to chat to others who have had the same. So far so good for me although digesting certain foods can be a challenge and I have some new Heartburn that I was not expecting and really hope will go away soon. Simon

Digesting troubles with Linx is new for me. Is it linx related at all and if so, which foods ?

I am myself scheduled for LINX Jan end and am curious to know any of your preoperative test results, if you don't mind.

Gerd - Hater. Scrabbled eggs and red meats was bad news, but bizarely, I can eat all the things that most posters say to stay away from, rice, pasta and chicken is all good. I have eaten spicy foods without a problem as well.As for the preops, I only had the standard endoscopy and the tube through the nose to the stomach (cant remember the name)to measure the muscular strength of the esophasos muscles.

hi am new to this forum. I have gerd and a hiatal hernia which is small.I hope to ask my doctor if am a good candidate for linx. I really will like to get a less permanent surgery just in case .the prospect of Nissen scares me just bcos of the horror stories from those that have done it. How successful is linx .Can anyone advice?

Hello everyone, very interested in anyone who has this LINX device and where inm the world you are UK, EUR, US NZ?

 I went to my GI last week asked about it and he didnt even know what it was, this is Australia for you, he said 10yrs after trials in UK or US we "might" get it here

My main issue for over 15yrs has been flare ups of reflux, usually round spring time(allergies,nasal drip) or stressful periods. 2002 and 2004 a gastoscopy showed mostly a sloppy valve, I am having a gastoscopy this week and hopefully its still just a sloppy valve. I am slim build, never smoke or drank and dont even have caffeine, my beds been up on bricks for 15yrs so mostly mine is seasonal and stress related. This Linx sounds like it would fix my roblems for good. My mum got esophegeal cancer when she was 65, my sister who is now 65 has now got barrettes I am only 47 and suffered this since I was 32. So please if anyone has any advice or knows of a good GI dr in Sydney NSW let me know. How is the person originally posted about having linx in Italy? its now 3yrs on.
