I am 19 years old. I have not been professionally diagnosed with GERD, but I know for a fact I have acid reflux. It runs in my family, my dad has it and he had surgery a while back when I was younger. Anyways, I've tried numerous medicines such as pepcid...prilosec...and other I can't fully remember right now, but all of those either didn't work or made me have no appetite. So I finally found Zegrid OTC and have been successfully using that for a little under a year now. A couple weeks ago, I could feel the medicine not working 100% but I still kept on using it. Well about a week ago, I was feeling drowsy, and really tired and out of it. Now I currently am in college and my sleep schedule had to change due to new classes, so instead of waking up at 11ish everyday, I wake up at 8am. I was going to class and not being able to concentrate and at some points felt like I was going to pass out. What was happening was that when I woke up at 8, I was not hungry and I had class until around 1:30 so that could have been the problem too. Anyways, so I decided to stop taking Zegrid OTC because I thought I was receiving side effect from it. Upon further reading, I thought I had come across something saying that stopping it cold turkey was not good but I can't remember now. Also, these past couple days/nights Ive had bad anxiety that I've never had before and was also wondering if that was the cause of stopping the medicine.
If you all could chime in with some thoughts/comments that would be awesome. Its kind of hard to contact my doctor back at home so I found this forum and figured maybe with people who experience it may be able to give me some input and make me feel better.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!,
Alex
