I've done my Endoscopy

This Wednesday i did my endoscopy, last time was in the 80's as i had panic attacks and great fear of doing it as i thought it would be the same.

Actually it went very well, the tube was so much thinner than in the 80's, like half the size and the doctor told me he done this over 1000 times in the last year, they asked me if i wanted sedation to make me sleep and calm down but i said no as i didn't think it would be such a big deal.

Anyway, he did it well and i felt it was a big difference from when i did it in the 80's.

The results was positive, i had no soars in my stomach and there was some healed spots and he also noticed i had some slight opening in my valve which causes the acid to come back, also he beleived i had Hernia but needed to do a CT scan of my lungs and stomach to see how the stomach is positioned as he had hard time diagnosing it.

I also said I couldn't tolerate any of the meds i've taken but he told me there is always one you can tolerate, he suggested Lanzoprazole as i couldn't tolerate eOmeprazole or Omeprazole or Ranitidin.

This must be great news as i not taken much meds and by body has healed itself by losing weight fast and eating small portions of food and elevating the bed with lots of excersize every day powerwalking.

I have not taken any meds since i was at my GI doctor but may start tomorrow as i have some pain in my shoulder and and breasts when i bend my body along with my soar tongue and throat that comes and go.

I asked my ordinary doctor about the pain i get and she suggested to take a NSAID meds, i commented her that NSAID is not good to take with GERD problems as it irritates the stomach lining, Ah yes she said. What kind of doctor is that? it seems i know more than her, not the first time i have to lecture her and she replies with the same comments as earlier.

Wow, you are doing a great job with diet and exercise and I commend you.  I have had to remind my Dr. of why I can't take certain drugs as they don't dig back into my chart and look at the big picture all the time. 

I take Prilosec and tolerate it well.  My GERD acts up when I do by eating or drinking things I know will trigger it.

Good grief...... fancy trying to give you NSAIDs! Well done dodging that one!

I had trouble with side effects of ppis (Omeprazole and Pantoprazole) and now take Lansoprazole - I still get one side effect with that (rash) but luckily I'm able to keep it under control most of the time. Your doctor could also try mixing in Ranitidine - it might enable you to take a lower dose of your ppi. That's something you could discuss if you don't find a ppi that suits you.

Yes thanks, in my country the medical care is really bad as when i goto a GI specialist who did the endoscopy will send me back to my GP doctor which knows nothing about this, i told them i want to visit the GI again to speak about the results which he would examine the coming week, i don't want to talk with my GP about this.

I told the GI that i couldn't tolerate the PPIs i've taken and he told me there is always some meds you can take of all on the market, then i told him can't i skip meds totally, yes but you will get soars after some time, then i told him does it matter as you get Barrett's if you are unlucky but the new lining can tolerate the acid much better and the chance of getting cancer from Barrett's is so low that you will probably die from something else before it develops, he agreed with me but told me if i coould stand the soar throat, he maybe thought i was crazy patient
