Holy cow. This Forum is awesome. Thanks for all the info. It helped me narrow down that GURD seems more likely with the annoyances I have Vs ones I don't that could be lungs or heart. Made a DR appt and gonna find out for sure as it would be a lovely day to put to rest the upper chest annoyances and heartburn and constant burping. Thanks everyone for all the info asking or responding!!!!!

Glad you've joined us!  I'm glad that the forum has been helpful to you.  It's definitely a special place.  Good luck with your doctor appointment.  It sounds as if you're on the right track!

Dr says as suspected, Acid Reflux, gave me a script and a list of foods not to eat. Only problem is I'm not a cow and grass and water aren't on my menu, lol. At any rate, with the medication I can still eat what I like just at a much less moderation. All the aches and what not are from the detox of my quitting smoking. Ugh and ugh............but I'm told it will pass and I just have to try and not kill anything while I detox (ha ha). Just remembered, Doc said coffee needs to go also, thats kinda a death wish upon a death wish, no nicotine, no caffeine, nough said, hurricane meet monsoon. Pacing self for a roller coaster ride of emotions and sickness.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the kind comment re this forum.  Just reading the title of your thread made me feel good and I needed a lift this morning.  You are very kind. 

Welcome to the GERD Forum, we are very happy to have you here with us. I was diagnosed with GERD about 15 years ago, even though it had gone on for many more years than that.

I admire you for giving up smoking as I realize how hard it is to do.  My hubby quit several times and he had some nasty withdrawal sx one time with his anxiety out of the ball park.  The last time he quit was 2 years ago this month as he had major surgery and was in the hosptal for 16 days which helped as he was on high doses of pain meds and Ativan as needed.  He was told to quit smoking for his health or else and he has not had a smoke since.  He also had to give up alcohol at that time but now has permission to have only one beer a day if he chooses. 

It is good to know you are wise enough to pace yourself for a rough ride and remember to be kind to yourself.  Just set aside this time to make it from one day to the next as you stop smoking and giving up caffeine.  I am a caffeine freak so for me to give this last thing up is a terrifying thought. 

It is great to be a part of a community of people who understand what you are going through, so I hope that you will stay on with us. We are here to help and support, and look forward to getting to know you better.

smilewinkgrin I have to admit, other than my kids, my deepest inspiration for quitting and for putting up with side effects and withdrawals comes hugely from Bethany Hamilton. bethanyhamilton.com/ best motivator yet. To accomplish all she has with only one arm, especially the sport she does, thats beyond gnarly. I'll weather the issues of this reflux and withdrawals for sure. Thanks for the kind words. I don't express my health much as nothing is ever wrong with it, lol, guess til now, seemingly that age 40 is the kill switch for awesome health, lol. Thanks!!!!
