That was a close one with your niece.  She is one lucky girl.  Sorry to hear that you're going to have to pack up, but at least you'll likely have a job, unlike many poor teachers around the country.  Fingers crossed.

My friends who are still teaching where I did said that this year they'll have to lose some positions after this year as well.  It seems as if all the money is going into creating multitudes of tests for every possible area of education, rather than to teaching children.  I hope that somehow all of this craziness subsides and we can get back to the business of educating children. Glad you're feeling a bit better and are able to get your head above water and visit your friends here at the forum.  I certainly will write you and email and send along a picture of our little guy.  We just got back from a long weekend with our son and his girlfriend in Lake Placid, NY.  It's beautiful up there.  My DIL's aunt and uncle owns a condo up there and are nice enough to share it with us from time to time.  We had a great time, but it always feels good to be back home.  Now to put things away and get ready to babysit tomorrow!

Yes, Lake Placid was beautiful...We're lucky to be able to stay there, and usually find a way to visit once a year.  We're very fortunate to be able to enjoy the condo, as it makes it much more affordable.

I'll write you an email over the weekend.  It's been fairly hectic around here with babysitting and preparing for my tutoring job.  I was working in my son's classroom all day today, but I'm looking forward to having tomorrow and the weekend off! 

It's amazing how our little grandson tires us out!  I can really feel my years.  When I had two little ones I did it all without even thinking about it.  When I was in my twenties I had a lot more vim and vigor than I do now, that's for sure.

I came down with a nasty sinus infection over the weekend, and went to my PCP yesterday.  He put me on an antibiotic.  I sure hope it works.

You give that hubby a big hug from your friends here at the forum.   I'm glad you have such a solid and supportive partner. Of course he loves you--you're extremely loveable! It definitely makes a huge difference to have somebody in your corner.

Yes our little one is growing fast.  He's 16 months old now and visited the pediatrician today.  He's 27 lbs., 11 oz. now.  No wonder I'm getting muscles!  If he could figure out how to say the words, I think there are lot of questions he'd already love to ask me!  It's such fun to watch him grow.

I'm taking a z-pack for my sinus infections and just took the fourth pill.  Honestly, I can't see any improvement yet, but I need to be patient, I guess.  I know that the antibiotic stays in your system after the 5th pill, so I just hope that at some point soon it starts to clear things up. I'm sick of all this yuck.

I'll bet that time share on the coast of St. Augustine must be wonderful.  I love the ocean...it's so relaxing to sit and read, listening to the waves.

I  do hope your INR levels continue to be just right, so you can get your procedure and start on the road to recovery.  Fingers crossed.

Hope you're staying healthy among all those germs.  I use to teach second grade, and it was a real germ-incubator.  My PCP was so happy when I retired so I could keep my asthmatic lungs away from all those colds!

Your little granddaughter's comment about talking without teeth was so cute!  Thanks for sharing it.  My Z-pac started to work at the end of the 5th day, and I'm definitely improved, but I may need another 5 doses to clear it up completely.  I just hope I don't have to switch types of antibiotic, because my tummy is very sensitive and doesn't like any other kind!

You're just going to have to insist that your body listens to you and gets it's act together!  Believe me, I feel your pain.  Before my surgery my lungs were filled and sickly constantly.

I'm dealing with healing from a heavy duty sinus infection.  I was on Z-Pack and didn't see a bit of improvement while I was taking the 5 day course of antibiotic, but thankfully the next day after I took my last pill, I started to show improvement.  I guess the effects last 5 days after stopping the pills, so I hope I continue to improve. 

Keep the faith...sometimes it takes time...especially when what you're dealing with is severe.

On another subject...

Someone is offering a remedy for sale on the "Anyone With Bile Reflux?" thread.

Just take a look if you feel up to is, and see if you want to delete it.

First keep in mind that many here have high anxiety and aren't entirely willing to give the surgery a chance to heal and be fully functioning.  In many cases these posts are panicky reactions to typical post-op healing.  If you read some posts from others who started out posting in a panic, in later months return to say that all is well and with time things straightened out.

If someone here posts with post-op issues it can also be related to a poorly prepared surgeon who hasn't had enough experience doing Nissens.

If you carefully select your surgeon and find one who is supremely skilled and experienced in this procedure, then you will do just fine.  A truly experienced surgeon will be able to differentiate symptoms that are not GERD related with those that are, and be able to better predict a good outcome.  This surgery is an art form and it requires lots and lots of practice.  Even a GREAT surgeon who hasn't done hundreds and hundreds of this procedure is not good enough.

At times symptoms that persist are simply symptoms unrelated to GERD, and therefore aren't fixed by the procedure.  When I asked my surgeon if the surgery would fix my asthma, he said, "If your asthma is caused by GERD, then the surgery will fix the problem."  That's the unknown quantity sometimes.

I can say this about LINX.  Any GI doc or surgeon I've discussed it with has continued to say that it's too new a procedure, and that the Nissen is still the "Gold Standard" for curing GERD.

Joy,  My heart goes out to you when I read of the symptoms you are having.  I cannot tell you how much I draw strength from you when I read how tough things have been for you yet you accept this disease and keep on going.

Bill,  How you doing and are you managing to dodge bullets to keep from going to the hospital ?  You started the antibiotics on the 11th - have they kicked in and attacked that nasty bug that is making your sick ? How is Michele feeling ?

To Liz, Sandy, MMM and MT - know you are all in my thoughts.  My days have been like a leaf in a storm - I am being tossed all over the place with this dang depression and still working on med adjustments.  Thanks to all of you here I will not give up although there I days when I cannot find the joy in life I keep hope alive somehow as I want to feel happiness. 

As far as attempting to get of Prilosec, that is the lesser of my goals these days.  My GERD is well controlled on the med so as they say, why mess with it if it is working ?
