Dave
I am coming up on 1 year post Nissen on April 1. I was not able to eat any amount of chocolate until I was about
6-7 months post-op. If I ate too much, my stomach felt irritated. I am sure that the caffeine in it bothered me. I also have to be careful what kind of coffee I drink. If it has too much acid the stomach lets me know it isn't happy. But, I have no reflux and all of my asthma symptoms are gone.. This is what I wished for. At almost 1 year, there is very little that I cannot eat, but, I still have to watch my portion size and I have to chew chew chew still. From what I am gathering, we will always have to chew thoroughly. That is ok with me as long as the reflux and pain is gone.
I do hope you will stay with us and let us know how your recovery progresses. Please ask questions as you move through your recovery and don't know if it is "normal" or not. Everyone will be happy to help you through.
