I'm brand new with this forum so help me if I'm in the wrong place.
I had a Nissen fundoplication exactly 5 wks ago today. It was done because of 18 years of GERD at maximum medication and I was still getting complications. As of today I still have much difficulty with esophageal spasms, sometimes with food, often with medication. I have informed my surgeon and they have ordered a barium swallow in 6 days and an EGD in 13 days.
I'm also having quite painful, unexplained, intermittent stabbing pain in my left side (back to below my ribs in front). The pain started at 3 wks post op for 2 days, stopped for 9 days, and returned Friday evening until right now. The ED visits have ruled out kidney, heart, and lung issues. I had shingles in my sciatic nerve (horrific pain) during most of February that cleared up right before my surgery. A friend suggested last night that it could be shingles in my L flank area that is presenting without a rash.
Has anyone else experienced these things? Any advice?
