6 months post fundoplication

Welcome to Healing Well!  When you say your breathing was difficult, do you mean that acid had migrated into them, causing damage?  Have you seen a pulmonologist?

What does your surgeon say about this problem persisting?  I will say this.  While most of the healing and adjustment to your GI changes occur by 6 months, the healing continues throughout the first year. I even found fine tuning continued into the second year.

Hopefully somebody will be by to share more information and support.  I also had difficulty with breathing pre-op, but my issue was caused by reflux creating very bad asthma symptoms.  My lungs took about two and a half months to improve.

It's totally normal for a pre-existing, long-standing problem that was caused by either GERD/acid, or your hernia, to take time to heal.  It didn't take 6 months for your lungs to get to that point, and it will take longer than 6 months for them to recovery.

That's why around here we're always reminding each other that it takes a full year for all the healing to occur.  I even found improvements into the second year.
