Even though GERD seems to be a life long issue that we must try to keep under control, I will tell you that it is possible to do so and to have a really good quality of life at the same time. If you get your symptoms under control with diet and possibly medication, you will definitely be able to have many good days. There will be some not-so-good days because none of us are perfect but you will eventually feel much better.
I would suggest you try to find a doctor, even a family doctor to help you with this since trying it on your own is becoming difficult for you. I tried to do it on my own too but eventually caved and went to my doctor about the symptoms. Try to figure out your trigger foods, obviously fried, greasy foods are bad but so is chocolate, alcohol and of course really spicy foods as is eating late at night.
I hope this helps a bit so you know you are not alone here. Having GERD doesn't mean your life should be miserable.
