Hi all! I haven't been on here for a long time. I couldn't find my old thread so have started a new one. I thought it might help anyone who has just had their gallbladder out.
I had a nissen fundo about 4 years ago and was still having problems with pain and eating. I was told that it was probably my gallbladder but that they didn't want to do anything more to me at that time as I had been through enough. Anyway, last September it started gettin much worse and I finally found out in November that I had a polyp growing inside it and I had it removed 4 weeks ago next Monday. I just wanted to let everyone know that you don't feel fantastic straight away. I was expecting to be good to go after a couple of weeks but that hasn't been the case. I had a fair amount of pain and A LOT of wind for the first week (I had an almost constant stomach ache) and still had painful wind for the second week into the third. Going to the loo was good the first week, bad the second week and has been good from then on. I was hurting after I went to the loo. All this has now been explained to me after worrying that something was wrong for the last 4 weeks! The outside heals in about a week or so but the inside takes a lot longer. Need to give it at least 6 weeks. Because of the stitching inside any pressure on it hurts. Also if you eat anything too fatty, apparently it still tries to pump more bile out (which it can't of course) and this puts pressure on the stitches (which hurts). This should eventually disappear. My brilliant GP has told me to steer clear of very fatty food, spicey food and alcohol for 6 weeks and then to try reintroducing them but only have them now and again in small quantities. Sorry about the rambling! Trying to remember everything! Hope this helps and if anyone has any other questions feel free to ask!
