I have just had the 24hr ph test. The raw data showed acid reflux at night only - which is not unexpected as I rarely experience oesophageal pain during the day but wakeup each morning with my throat on fire.

Is this a common expression of reflux disease? Does anyone know if the linx system can help with this ?

Have you tried lifting up your upper body a bit when sleeping? Some people mention feeling better when they sleep on the left side too, maybe try that out. If you symptoms are very mild and you can control them with medication, maybe the surgery is not necessary?

Surgery is always a serious decision and in my opinion should be considered only as a last resort!

Thank you Incognito. Yes I have used a wedge shaped cushion for some years. I am sleeping practically upright. It is because max meds no longer work that I am exploring surgical options. I have had reflux for about 20years. I dream of chocolate....

Well in that case the surgery indeed seems like a best option... If you are interested in LINX take a look at posts of forum member named "JustPassingThrough", he is a great source of information about this procedure.

My reflux was just recently found out and I want to see how do I respond to meds but I suffered from it for very long and the surgery might be needed too. I am really scared of nissen though thus if I have to, personally I'd rather choose LINX... It looks very promising but health insurance in my country wouldn't cover the cost... :(
