Just a quick note that after 11 weeks I have found I have no limitations now. I have been able to eat anything I want (even a hot dog and roll at a cookout) with no effect what so ever. I do feel that I may be one of the lucky ones. Carbonation is not an issue anymore either. I am so glad I had this done, would do it again in a heartbeat, even though at the beginning I never thought I would feel this good again. I give high praise to by doctor. I elected to go to a Boston MA hospital where they do these all the time and it was so worth it.

I realize after reading a lot of the posts that most people seem to have difficulty with their wraps and I feel bad for them as I am feeling so good.

Sorry to brag but it is a good feeling to not worry anymore and not feel lousy.

Fantastic to read you are doing so well and please do celebrate  your sucessful recovery from your surgery with us.  It is encouraging for others to read that you are doing well.

Hi Deb,

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well!  I appreciate the fact that you posted your positive experience.  It'll be very encouraging to members who are going through early recovery right now.  As you know, that can be very challenging!

Keep in mind that most people who have a Nissen surgery never post online at all.  They have the surgery and go off on their merry way to live a much improved quality of life.  People who post online are generally experiencing problems and looking for answers.

I love seeing success posts. I couldn't be happier with my Nissen, it gave me my life back. I wish I knew how to spread that message more to people, and that's the reason I stick around here. When I read someone dismissing the Nissen because of stories they've seen online, I want to drag them to one of our amazing surgeon's offices so they can get the REAL story!

Its true you don't see many of our positive stories, but its not because there's anything wrong with the Nissen fundoplication. Quite the contrary, the hard facts show the success rates are high, and complication rates are low. But, for some reason its easier for our brain to disregard extensive, well documented medical research showing consistent success, as its boring, dry and impersonal. Its much easier to form an opinion by reading a personal story from a real person, as that story will elicit an emotional response that has a lasting impact.

This message board exists for those with health problems to come together and discuss, so it attracts people who have surgery complications. Like Denise said, those who have had a successful surgery aren't online talking about it, they're off enjoying having their life back. Some of us stick around.

Maybe we need a "Lets show some love for the Nissen fundoplication" thread? :)
